Repeated treatment delays, best mail for letter of complaint

This isn’t strictly a cancer query, my brother’s treatment has been cancelled and re arranged on at least 3 occasions. I am sending a letter of complaint ( he has autism and has tried ringing oncology but gets the run around and can’t cope). Should I send recorded delivery/ signed for? Thanks!

Who are you sending it to? The best people would be your hospital's PALS team. By all means do a recorded delivery, it shows them you mean business and need a prompt response. This is time sensitive, so PALS should get on an investigation ASAP ( assuming you're in the uk).

Thank you, I wrote to PALS ( second class stamp) and to the consultant (signed for). Got an answer via email from PALS , they want my brother’s permission to liaise with me which is understandable but a bit tricky due to brothers mental health issues and autism, and we live in different cities. However I also got a call from a male oncology CNS who is doing his best to help expedite appointments.

You are better off emailing I would have thought

Yes probably. But there’s something very satisfying about firing off a letter!

Pals should email you a consent form that your brother can sign and then you can proceed with complaint on his behalf, Pals will then ring you for the details.

You just need to tell him he’s signing the form to allow you to chase up his appointments for him. Do you have any relatives/friends near him who could sort out his signature?

TheGander · 28/07/2024 21:31

Hi @TheGirlattheBack sadly I am his only relative barring some cousins who have no relationship with him so it’s down to me, I’ll be going to see him in Saturday and we can do the form then. Thank you for the advice

Good luck. PALS are very good. I hope your brother gets his treatment ASAP.
