My son recently, found a lump in his supraclavicula fossa. It’s described by the doctors as hard, irregular edges and fixed. He has been seen by ENT and had a biopsy (a core biopsy I believe it’s called) I’m going out of my mind with worry. How long for those who have had experience of yourself or family members being diagnosed with cancer did the biopsy come back? Was it quick? A long time? Do biopsy results with a cancer diagnosis come back quick or do they take time? I’ve never experienced anything like this and I’m so worried. I know from the area the lump is in there’s a high risk of malignancy.

Hello. Firstly I wanted to say how sorry I am you are going through this uncertainty - it’s absolute hell and I’m sure you are in absolute disbelief.
My son was diagnosed with cancer at 11 (now doing very well and nearly 16)
His tumour was found with an MRI - it was behind his eye and his nose and they did the biopsy the next morning.
It took time to identify the type of cancer - we knew it was definitely malignant but not which type - it was about a week. The way they explained it to me was that they need the cells to reveal themselves .. grow so they can identify them. It was tortuous but when they identified it, their reaction was lightning fast and there was a plan
A year after remission we found a lump on his neck - I was thrown into a panic but it just turned out to be a reactive lymph node
I have you in my thoughts - I truly hope it is nothing sinister and that you get an answer quickly x

@FranklyDontGiveADamn thank you for your reply, I’m so happy to hear that your son had a good outcome and is doing well.

We had the news today that my son has Classical Hodgkins Lymphoma. So we’re at the very beginning of our journey.

Thank you for your response. X

I’m so very very sorry to hear this. I know there is nothing I can say to take away your fear and my heart is with you all.
My boy had lymphoma too - Burketts Lymphoma - we were told that it was a tough chemo regime but with high success rates .. he was stage 4 when diagnosed.
There were six rounds of chemo and immunotherapy. I won’t lie - it was very very tough but the care he received was amazing. The hardest parts were when his immunity was low and he was prone to infections - they laid him low and he spent a lot of time in hospital. These were the hardest times and it felt like forever before his immunity would build back up .. but they always did and he would rally.
The first few weeks were all about learning about the mix of drugs .. it felt totally overwhelming at first but it becomes second nature and the other mums on the ward really helped me get up to speed.
The only way I found to cope was by taking it one day at a time ..
please feel free to message me at any time .. I found support from other mums going through the same thing really helped me .. and if there is anything you want to ask me - feel free .. I’m here any time xxxx

sending all my love and prayers for you and your son on your journey
