Appointment to discuss head CT - worried!

Hello, I had a head CT 2 weeks ago following some nasty headaches and brain fog. My GP had referred me for it, along with a blood test for some ‘inflammatory markers’. I called into the surgery a few days ago to ask, and they said that the bloods had come back fine but they were still waiting for the CT result.

I just had a text to say that the GP who referred me for the scan wanted to discuss the result in an appointment tomorrow, and I would be called in the morning to arrange a time.

Am I right to assume that this means they have found something? It all seems a bit urgent to be told everything is fine. I’m really worried! 😟

There are things it could be other than a cancerous tumour, I know, but I’m finding the worst case scenario impossible not to think about, and I don’t have a lot of support irl.

given your bloods are all bang on

i’d be surprised if anything concerning

assume just to discuss next steps given. tests revealed nothing until told otherwise

I hope that’s right 🤞I guess I don’t know how accurate the blood tests are at predicting these things…

I agree that you shouldn't worry yet.

If it's any comfort, this is EXACTLY what my GP did to DH when he'd had a heart CT . Made an appointment that felt quite 'urgent' to discuss the fact that they hadn't anything wrong with his heart, so these were going to do X, Y and Z as next steps.

Obviously we can't be sure, but that is not an unheard of way of progressing exploratory work.

And agree, the good bloods are a very positive sign.

Ah, that’s hopeful to hear, thanks for sharing.

My DD had a head MRI, we were called back same day as they found something, same with friends father. Try not to worry

I haven't any experience OP but good luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you

It's awful to have to wait but I agree . It's probably ' everything is ok but what shall we do about your symptoms' and next diagnostic steps .

I also think if the CT scan had shown anything worrying you would have been spoken to by now . Great that the blood tests were fine .

Thank you all for replying, I’m feeling a bit more optimistic now!

I’m sorry your DD went through that 141. Flowers

Personally I'd take the fact that you're having an appointment with a GP rather than a specialist as a good sign. If they'd found something sinister then you'd likely be straight to a specialist.

Hello, thank you for calming me down everyone. The GP said they did find what looks like a Chiari malformation which is likely causing my problems with headache and migraine (I’ve had migraine, separate from the headaches that triggered this scan, all of my adult life). They’ve referred me to neurology for an MRI to find out more.
I’m hugely relieved it’s not anything too dangerous or progressive, and although no one wants to have anything wrong, I’m also glad some cause has been identified and I’m not just being sent off to struggle with paracetamol and triptans.

Great news OP. What a relief!

What a huge relief, it’s the waiting that’s the worse thing. 😘
