Would you be worried about this mole?

It's not very big and the edges seem OK but its super itchy and I've just taken a close up picture and looks like it has blood on it (it's on my side and I can't see it). I have a tattoo around it FYI.
Got a Dr appointment later today just don't know how worried I should be

I am in the USA and we are taught ABCDE to look for in moles that can flag up concern.

A - asymmetric, the mole isn't a even or balanced shape and is different on each side.
B - border, the border is irregular or blurred.
C - color, different colors within one mole. It can be several shades of the same color or made up of several colors, including tan, brown, or black. They can even include areas of white, red, or blue. ** an exception is a Amelanotic melanoma which can be colorless with no pigment, or a reddish or pinkish spot.
D - diameter, bigger than 1/4 inch or 6mms can be a sign of concern.
E - evolving, typical moles don't change over time. So if it is getting bigger, changing color, itchy, bleeding etc. it should be checked.

That's ages!
But I suppose it means don't worry

Mrsworried1 · 22/03/2024 07:52

@afrikat @Tilllly our area has a dermatologist view photos of your mole before you get an appointment, I just checked my nhs app and the photos that were sent were not
very clear, one was completely blurred! So fingers crossed it’s just because the photos are rubbish. X

After I got my NHS appointment I realised my private health insurance offers a full mole check so decided to go down that route as I have loads, especially on my back. Got the initial scan on Monday

Thats great news afrikat, I have just had a number of those 'frozen' off as they were catching on my clothes and looked really unsightly (not in UK). Blistered up then after about 12 days changed into a scab, new skin now growing over, looks so much better

Still keep an eye on them though, I have had about 6 moles taken out and checked all fine.

Unicycle82 · 26/03/2024 19:37

My result came back in one week, so surprised as they said 4-6weeks. Mine was an atypical naevus so no further treatment. Stitches out tomorrow! Xx

ah this is all great news! I got my appointment for next Tuesday. Hopefully mines good news too xx

mynamechangemyrules · 26/03/2024 21:02

Pleased to read stories of good news. My mole is being removed for testing on the 12.4. It's been bleeding a lot and won't heal over and they've whisked me through so that's great. Impressed with the NHS team so far.

I'm assuming I do nothing different/ it's not a big thing getting it chopped out..?! They've sent literally no details on that but so I'm just going to turn up on the day 😂

Where abouts is your mole?
I had a week off work as I have a physical job and it was on my shoulder blade. Wound about 4cm long. Very sore and could have done with even longer off work but couldn't afford to..Still wouldn't be able to lift really heavy things.

mynamechangemyrules · 26/03/2024 21:51

My shoulder blade! But it's tiny... My job is physical, involves a lot of movement and I'll be back on the Monday.
