Hello 👋🏻 I'm hoping I'm wrong but presuming you're newly diagnosed or someone close to you is.

I have a a complex and aggressive cancer diagnosed de novo in 2018 and I am still here with a decent quality of life.

I'm several years past predicted prognosis and currently showing no significant changes.

There are excellent support groups I can signpost you to but only if you feel ready to share a little more detail.

So sorry you or a loved one is going through this. My DF had Stage 4 lung cancer, both lungs. He lived for a number of years after diagnosis, far longer than we anticipated. He went on trials in London. It was a roller coaster.
I'm sorry but without specific details, not sure what info you want.

Sorry for lack of info! My mum has the big c in her right lung and has 2cm and 1cm tumours on her brain. A tv presenter who has similar has just died. She was following him as a hope for her.

My mums at a concert but I know when she comes out she will be devastated. She hasn’t started treatment yet. I just wanted some positive stories to pass through to her. Thank you so much x

Immunotherapy is so promising. If she is able to have that kind of treatment I think the sky is the limit. I am sorry your family is going through this.

My friend has been living with stage 4 lung cancer for nearly 4 years now. She had some chemo and then immunotherapy. Wishing you and your Mum all the best.

My friend’s DH was diagnosed with stage 4 nine years ago. They basically got rid of it with drug trials. He is living a busy active life now.

My mum has secondary breast cancer in her bones (spine, hips, ribs), lungs and kidneys and has been stage 4 for 4 years now. She’s still living at home alone and goes out 3-4 days a week. She’s recently been on a drug trial and one tumour has shrunk from 20th a down to 6. In 6-8 months. She’s 81 so probably won’t live forever but I truly believe she has quite a few more happy years ahead. Don’t lose hope yet OP. Find out what immunotherapy options are available and if she can participate in any trials.

Danfromdownunder · 03/02/2024 02:21

Sorry shrinkage is from 20cm down to 6cm.

I have a couple!

My BIL at age 28, going to be 66 this summer

DH’s cousin, lung 26 years ago age 62, passed away a couple of months ago, 88.

Treatments are very much improved. Wishing your mum all the best.

Me. I had a stage 4 tumour in my tongue 5 years ago. 4chemo, 25 radiotherapy and it went. To be fair my type does have a 90% success rate apparently

A friends wife was given a 6 months terminal diagnosis for melanoma 8 years ago. Immunotherapy and she's still here and well.

Following as I also need these following recent stage 4 secondary bc diagnosis out of thr blue after a year of tests for fatigue and breathlessness (GPs suspected long covid then ME). Am HER 2 positive, just started ribociclib and letrozole. Grade 2 in terms of pace. Consists of 21mm mass in one breast, limited spread to top of spine and 2 lymph nodes so been advised should respond well to treatment to keep at bay for a good many years though incurable. Am a single parent of 2 so it's been quite stressful. I am fit and active, and psychologically quite an upbeat kind of person but I do worry of course! Thank you xx
