I'm worried sick. To keep it brief my husband had pneumonia in September and was very ill. He had a follow up chest x ray in October that showed a new shadow he was treated with antibiotics and a follow up arranged which again showed it still there. He had a ct scan on Thursday and friday got a call to say results are back but needs to come in for face to face next week. We are all assuming the worst that they have found cancer. He doesn't have any symptoms. Is there a chance it could be something else. It has completely consumed me, I am tearful all the time. I know I just need to wait but its agony.

Definitely let us know. You will hopefully be much happier after the apt. The first apt is the worst as you are so in the dark, once you get speaking to the consultant at least you will have a much better idea of what is going on.

Deecee666 · 28/12/2023 18:56

Just got out, he has to have biopsies done, they don't know but have said its possibly cancer but hoping caught early enough to treat aggressively. So still none the wiser but feeling a bit more positive. Thank you all for your support

That is great news. It may turn out to be nothing. I do think they would have a fair idea of any lymph node involvement from the CT scan, so it's definitely positive if that they are thinking it may be cancer that it is only early, they won't say that lightly x

LaurieStrode · 28/12/2023 19:23

Been thinking about you all day. This is good news. When are the biopsies to take place?

Just remember there are some real miracle drugs out there now. And more being developed in the pipeline.

Please enjoy the next few days to relax and get ready for 2024; and keep us posted. ☀

Deecee666 · 28/12/2023 21:36

Thank you @Summer19 if you don't mind I'll update you when we get confirmation. They reckon 2 -3 weeks for a definite diagnosis once further tests hsde been done.

Deecee666 · 29/12/2023 07:14

Thank you @LaurieStrode I will keep you posted. Biopsies imminent within the next 2 weeks, and they said a week for the results and to be discussed. 3 weeks in total we should know for certain. They did say that it changed dramatically in a matter of weeks and faster than any cancer they had seen, hence why they don't know if it is cancer. Will stay positive thank you all.

Of course! Please keep us updated.

Deecee666 · 15/01/2024 20:20

Just an update. Hubby had his biopsies taken today, dreading the results but regardless of what it is we will work through it. Not sure how long we will be waiting fir results

Sending lots of positive vibes your way

Hi OP, we went through a similar thing with my mum last year. After the scan she went for biopsies which were thankfully negative. She was diagnosed with a rare non-malignant condition called sarcoidosis. I remember how awful the wait for results is. Sending love and positive thoughts Flowers

MumOfHals · 15/01/2024 22:23

I really hope the best and the results come back negative 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

LaurieStrode · 16/01/2024 01:32

Thinking of you and hoping for the best. Please keep us updated. I know the dread you are feeling. 💐💐💐💐💐💐

Summer19 · 22/01/2024 19:05

I hope all is well OP and you get the biopsy results very soon x

Payakan · 22/01/2024 19:23

I don't have wise words, but you are not alone in this. Once you have the results, you will have a plan. The waiting is the worse.
💐

Deecee666 · 22/01/2024 22:08

Thank you Summer for you kind thoughts, still waiting! Honestly the waiting is hard but hoping that we hear soon xxx

It's awful. I remember it so well. If you have your consultants name, you could phone their secretary to ask are the results in, even if you had a date to meet the consultant at least you would have a schedule?

Deecee666 · 24/01/2024 18:29

I nearly phoned today and then thought I might regret calling uf its bad news. Now I'm thinking I wish I had so I will call tomorrow and ask if there is any news. 😞

Thinking of you, I hope they are able to give you some (good) news soon xx
Even if not good news, you will deal/cope with whatever it is, weirdly once you have a plan, it doesn't seem quite as scary x

stayathomegardener · 24/01/2024 19:08

Thinking about you from someone who's DH was recently diagnosed theres actually quite a lot you can do with diet and off purpose drugs in many situations.

DH's results are improving already in just 3 months.

The waiting is the worst though.

Summer19 · 25/01/2024 09:58

Once you have the results and have a plan, it is so much better and you feel you are moving forward. The being in limbo waiting is just awful.

Deecee666 · 26/01/2024 19:26

I have some news. I have not been sleeping well and last night had horrendous nightmares so at 3am I was emailing the oncology team asking if they can please tell us ASAP any news even if bad and today the consultant called. Good news its not cancer and he doesn't know what it is so more scan and biopsies to find cause which he thinks could be fungus or an infection of some kind. So we are over the moon and pleased it's not cancer a little concerned they still have to do more tests and wanted to thank you all for your support over these last few weeks. You have all been my rock and I will be forever grateful ❤️
