Handhold/support/cheerleaders needed - finished penultimate chemo cycle today and feeling anxious

Hi. Only have 1 more cycle of chemo to go (my immunotherapy will continue but not too concerned about that). Last cycle is after Christmas and New Year.

Feeling shattered and just fed up really. It's all caught up with me. Hat dreaded accumulative affect. Really worried about enjoying Christmas with my lovely family. I can do this can't I? Positive vibes needed.

Thanks.

Hi @walkingonthemoon well done on getting to your penultimate cycle. Can you plan some low key Christmas things to distract / help you feel Christmassy without tiring yourself out? Like making paper chains or writing cards with a Christmas film on? Don't worry about hours of baking or long walks. Naps are good. Your family will be happy just to spend time with you. Sending unmumsnetty hugs 💐

Thankyou for replying. Yes I'll do that thankyou. Just feeling really vulnerable and fed up for the first time in a while. X

It's ok to feel fed up and sad and vulnerable and frightened and/or whatever you might be feeling. Christmas puts lots of pressure on us to feel a certain way while actually accentuating whatever we are actually feeling. You have got this! You're almost through and it's great that it finished today so you have a few days rest and recovery time before Christmas. It's bound to be feeling awful today. Sending you positive vibes and wishing you a joyful Christmas

Well done OP. I hope you have good support at home and dan rest and do basically whatever the fuck you want for a while!

Best of luck to you, sister x

Exactly the same for me. Had penultimate treatment on Tuesday, last one is on the 28th, I'm exhausted! It's almost over now. I just keep thinking of all the things I'll be able to do in a few weeks/months. Still feel very low in the meantime though. I think that's normal.

How are you feeling today @walkingonthemoon? Wishing you a relaxed and restful weekend, with mince pies.

@walkingonthemoon I’m in the same situation as you. As a nurse said to me earlier this week, “it’s a lot”. It’s inevitable you will feel all kinds of emotions. Try to notice them rather than push them away. I’ve been advised to keep a diary. Hope you have a good rest and hope you get to enjoy Christmas!

Hi I'm feeling grateful that I managed to get to my daughters concert yesterday in Yorkshire... got to love the post chemo steroid days! Feeling quite wired this time with the steroids. Dreading the slump from Sunday though. X
