NETS

My beloved MIL has Neuroendocrine Tumour Syndrome otherwise known as NETS. NETS is not always cancerous but in my DMIL it is. I have watched my DMIL have part of stomach removed and get stents in her kidneys due to where the tumours are. She dropped to just 6 stone in weight which even at 5ft 3” is underweight. Every year she goes to the Beatson Oncology, has ended up radioactive due to some of the treatments tried and every month she has to get injections to help restrict the tumours growth. It is terminal but with timeframe. Has anybody ever known anyone with NETS?

My mil died of nets 2 years ago. She was diagnosed in March and died in July aged 90. She didn’t have time to have any treatment as she declined very rapidly. Sorry I don’t have anything more positive to tell you.

Thank you and I’m so sorry for your loss. DMIL has been getting injections for two years and they have been restricting the tumours growth for now. It will stop working at some point but I suppose the answer is how long is a piece of string.

Thank you that is good to know. Fingers crossed DMIL has a long time yet.

I don't know anything about NETS and I'm really sorry to hear of your MILs diagnosis. But I am a patient at the Beatson at the moment and everyone there has just been wonderful so she should be getting good treatment. I hope her latest treatment goes well, sending you all much love xxx

Thank you. I hope your treatment goes well too. X

My DMIL has been given 6-12 months as the cancer is everywhere. Just feeling a little lost right now.
