im trying to find a campsite somewhere nice near to the coast for my and ds to have some kind of holiday this summer. we went camping last June and it was brilliant

cant afford to go abroad and cant afford a caravan etc

im looking at pitch prices per night and an shocked!! how can they justify charging £25+ for a patch of grass per night?? thats not even with electric!

what a rip off it has become i cant believe my cheap cheap holiday idea is now gunna cost over £100 to hire our literally a patch of grass and the use of a toilet. i cant believe it

If it's just you and ds that seems kind of pricey. Most sites we have stayed at charge per adult/child/dog etc, is where we are staying this year it is £8 each for dp and me and £4 each for the kids = £24 a night.

some of the more popular places charge per pitch rather than per person. ive just had a look at a very basic one (which is all we really need as its only to sleep) and that is only £8 per adult and £2.50 per child so £10.50 per night for me and ds.

where abouts are you staying this year that's cheap?

We are going to Deepdale Farm for the third year running, it's fab, the only drawback it the pitches arn't big enough and so I think this might be our last year there unless they increase the sizes.

A few years ago it was fine but everyones tents are just getting bigger and bigger.

that looks a nice place. these are the ones im considering...

www.haylingcampsites.co.uk/

www.kingfisher-caravan-park.co.uk/index.php

www.greenacres-camping.co.uk/

im tempted to go to the greenacres one for some reason but i would ideally like to go to two different ones within a week - few days at each so that we can visit a few more places and portsmouth is one of the places that i would like to go to for the day so the hayling island one would be good

The sites with the 'best' locations are expensive - we've noticed that as camping becomes ever more popular the prices have rocketed. Mind you those expensive sites tend to have more 'facilities' like bar/restaurant or a pool which attract different types of campers than traditional types.

The caravan & camping club do have smaller (cheaper) sites - have a look at their website.
Where do you want to go? We'll find you a cheap, nice site.

g'wan I love a challenge!
