Do you think the kids could manage for a week with camping stools instead of chairs?

Just musing, thinking spacewise/costwise would be good. Also we have a fold up table and if I got 3 stools for the dc I wouldn't have to get a table set.

Or do you think dp and I are going to forever turfing them out of our Outwell loungers???

How old are they?

MilaMae · 30/06/2010 22:08

6,6 and 5

It would be a tad mean wouldn't it?

The answer to both questions is yes. They could indeed manage, but will be nipping into your loungers at every opportunity (based on my DC).

but are camping stools stable? they look very wobbly.

there are some cheap kids chairs around if your DC are smallish - eg here

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 30/06/2010 22:11

I reckon you'd be sick of the squabbling over your Outwell Loungers before the first night was out!

MollieO · 30/06/2010 22:15

I speak from experience. It is nigh on impossible to turf a well-rooted 5 yr old ds from a comfy camping chair even when he has his own child sized chair to sit on. If you want to spend you camping trip sitting on the floor then take the stools for your dcs .

MilaMae · 30/06/2010 22:18

Hmmm that's what I feared.

Just worried about chair height up at the table, stools sort of tuck in more.

Got a table but no eating seating iykwim.

Think I'll maybe get 3X el cheapo chairs and 3 X el cheapo stools then- if they exist.

Then if dp and I get turfed out of the loungers at least we can prop our feet up the el cheapo stools-luxury!!!!

How about kids chairs and trays, that's what I'm considering but haven't actually tried it yet!

MrsTicklemouse · 30/06/2010 22:33

also there are adult size camping chairs for £6 in B&Q atm

Lovesdogsandcats · 01/07/2010 09:41

Do you have a B&M near? They have proper camping chairs for £4.99.

overmydeadbody · 01/07/2010 16:56

Good lord of course they could manage

DS, aged 7, manages camping just fine with no chairs, or tables, or stools or other luxuries like that!

We just take a picnic blanket and sit on that to eat. Or perch on logs or rocks.

maxybrown · 02/07/2010 11:06

I was just going to suggest what's wrong with their bottoms? I find they are usually good for sitting on

Fennel · 02/07/2010 11:34

Mine (10, 8, 6) usually have camping chairs (we don't take a table) but we're leaving them behind for our 3 weeks in France this summer, in favour of adding more watersports and cycling equipment. They'll have to sit on the floor (or on their bikes or in the kayak, I suppose). We always sat on the floor when camping as children, children do it at school, they're used to it.

MilaMae · 02/07/2010 14:37

It's not the bottoms but eating as we're there for a week and I cook as usual. The thought of spag bol X3 being eaten on a picnic rug kind of gives me the chills.
