Cornbury Festival - what's it like?

I'm thinking of going to Cornbury Festival this year with the DH and 2 DS (aged 6 and 2). We are first time campers so is it madness to go to a festival for a first camping trip? I've been watching Glastonbury and it's scaring me (mainly thoughts of losing the kids and the potential horrors of the loos).

We have bought a cheap tent and airbeds but I was thinking of taking the duvets/pillows from home. Foodwise I thought I take a load of fruit, cereal bars and cartons of drink and buy from the stalls all other meals. Do I sound deluded or could this be a plan?

Cornbury is fine, the facilities are good as far as festival facilities go...loads of portaloos that are cleaned regularly. The campsite isn't too far from the carpark or the areana. There is a "lost child" tent. If you go there as soon as you get into the areana you can get wrist bands for the dc with your mobile number on them & also shows dc where to go should they get lost. It's never happened to me at a festival & my ds has always been an habitual absconder. It will get cold at night, the last 2 Cornbury's have been very wet & it gets muddy.

Thanks - as it's first time for camping and festival I'm not sure whether it'll be heaven or hell for us. The kids love being outdoors getting dirty etc - but not so sure they'll like it if they can't have a hot bath too. I'm sure it'll be great although if rain is forecast I think I might chicken out

It is fine for kids, quite compact but with lots of running around space.

Not as many bands as most festivals but usually has a few big names. You only get Saturday and Sunday (no friday night and no comedy tent)so not terribly good value.

There is NOwhere to shelter from the rain apart from the VIP marquee which tends to accentuate the "them and us" feeling of this festival. Too many people braying about school fees for me, which is why I wouldn't go again but my DS loved Scouting for Girls last year even though it rained and rained.
