I'm in Bristol if that helps; can't find a stockist!

Whats a Kelly Kettle??

MisSalLaneous · 22/06/2010 14:00

castle, I don't know if you're joking, but if not - I don't think that's correct. As far as I know Ikea definitely doesn't stock them.

nabyeylasH, it's probably too late now for you anyway, so if you consider for future - we bought our kettle (Eydon Storm) direct, and it arrived pretty quickly.

I got one in the end - from Taunton Leisure and they price matched an online price so it's all good!

Now I need to find a coolbox - A colemans party stacker!

Oh fantastic, great you got one!

navyeyelasH · 22/06/2010 18:50

They only had the 1 pint or the 2.5 pint though so I ahd to go for the smaller one. Can't wait to get it going now and bring out my inner arsonist!

What's the best way to start the fire?

Firelighter, couple of twigs (or pine cones if you can find, they're my favourite fuel) over it. Put kettle on, fill with water. Make sure you take the cork off before lighting. Then light through the hole in the fire bowl. Feed the fire through the top (i.e. add more twigs / small pieces of wood etc) until water boils. It should only take a minute or two.

Though, before you attempt this for the first time, practice lifting up the kettle without ever getting you hand over the top of the kettle (where the heat escapes). You do this by pulling the chain a bit until the kettle "tips" a bit. My explanation rubbish, but it would make sense when you do it. It's the only thing that is essential, otherwise you'll burn when lifting up the kettle. Also, if you want to boil some more water on the same fire - if it is still going - you'd need to be able to put it back on. Not difficult.

If you have got a tumble dryer start saving the lint. It makes the best natural firestarter ever.

Thanks Sal, I just nearly started crying as I thought there was a bit missing from the packet!

Because of the chimney part of the kettle I was looking at it thinking, "oh no, I've not got all the parts where the heck is the bottom!?" Ha ha what a pleb.

I read the instructions and get it now. Thanks for the tip on pouring, just gave it a go, I'm just using the chain part for tipping and the handle for holding high? Is that right?

Sorry navy, my descriptions are known to be quite rubbish!

Yep re handle. I burned my fingers when I was in a rush once, so am now very "correct" about how to handle it.

castleonthehill · 23/06/2010 10:03

thought it was a metal kettle with a whistle. they look really good. sorry

MisSalLaneous · 23/06/2010 13:50

Oh sorry, I didn't mean to sound arsey!
