My budget isn't huge 10,000 or maybe a bit more

Anyone with advice

Look on ebay for a while to get the feel of things. Watch vans you like and check how much they go for. Pay as much as you can afford and preferrably go for a diesel engine. You want to check for damp and leaks etc. Decide if you want fixed beds or if you dont mind putting beds up at night. If you are going skiing, a van with a garage usually under a fixed bed is perfect for storing skis, boots, and clothes etc. You can buy motorhome magazines which might be usefull. Buy something you know you can drive and manoeuvre, good luck.

Did not realise some did not have fixed beds!

Nearly bought a huge American thing but it was really old - 1982 I think - but it only done 27,000 miles and it was an auto, however it had a petrol engine!

Something like a transit would be good, with a shower and toilet, that you can stand up in. Something like this

Whatare the costs involved, tax, is the insurance expensive?

Do they need further weather proofing for cold places

The first one looked decent and tidy and worth the money. I could not get to see the other unfortunately. I dont know about tax but do know that to insure ours including my son as an added driver we were £319 pounds. Ask any questions you want and the owner will reply. If you have not bought anything off ebay before you might need to get in touch with the seller to see if they will accept your bid. If you see something you like keep a watch on it but dont bid. Wait till the last minute before you bid and decide how much you would reasonably pay. You can put in a maximum bid but that does not mean that is how much you would pay. If you can manage dont bid till the last 30 seconds but make sure you are signed in and ready to go. If the item does not reach the reserve keep watching as it might be put up for sale again.
