Blacking out your tent to avoid early risers or to even aid sleep

We have a vango icarus , a 3 yr old and a 7 yr old, last yr we went camping and as the inner inside is bright white ot never really got dark and at ungodly oclock it was very bright - dh is avoiding caming this year as he says he cannot hack thew brightness and lack of sleep that will come with it. Do any tents have dark inners as id consider trading for another if it would fix the job - other than that i love the icarus.

canvas is a little darker? whatabout a play tent (or really cheap pop up tent) inside the tent that you can drape black cotton over? You and dh then wear eye masks? Tbh even our hyper ds sleeps ok camping as we let him run around like a loom and he goes to bed later-a possible technique?

actually the pop up tent is not such a bad idea and we have one in the loft, the two of em wind each other up so it would be good to in effect have a 3 bedroom tent - good plan

Kampa tents have a blackout lining called sleep tite.

I'm after one, but waiting (hoping!) for some reductions at the end of the season.

According to ukcampsite, kampa tents are very good - ££'s though...

I second the eye masks.

We had some thin emergency blankets in the car and dh pegged them to the sleep pods (under fly but over pod iyswim) it helped with darkening the sleep area, and also kept us noticeably warmer last weekend!
It's a flaff but alt. to selling/buying another

I would go with the wearing them out idea. Dd3 is an early riser, at home she's usually awake by 6 but regularly sleeps till 8 when we are camping which is sheer luxury for us!!! she charges around with the other kids till about 9 pm then a quick supper and into bed by 9.30ish. Works for us.
