Really easy to put up/down tent for camping averse DH needed

That's it really, nice and big, 4 DCs and potentially dogs too. DH really really doesn't 'do' camping, so needs to be easy to get down especially, he got in a right temper with the one we borrowed last time

Any suggestions gratefully received

Oh good luck! In my experience the bigger the tent the harder it is to put up and take down. We started with an Outwell Kansas 5 which is so easy to put up and take down its untrue. But for this easiness the downside is no living area to speak of really. But it sleep 4 of us and one dog comfortably. Obviously tho in bad weather the lack of living space is a big downside and not really the way to impress someone who it not into camping

We moved up to an Outwell Idaho XL which is so far to the other extreme its not funny. Its fecking mahooooosive with so much living space you could throw a party. But its an absolute bugger to put up and take down so I won't take it for trips of less than a fortnight!!

I am rambling now, but somewhere I saw a family sized Quechua (sp?) pop up tent which must be the easiest to put up but I am not so sure about taking it down. I can't do links but if you look at he Quechua website you should be able to find it.

Not much help I know but I do so love talking about camping !

here I just couldn't comment how easy it would be to get down again, but lets face it, it must be so easy to put up!

This is our Kansas which we love. Easy peasy to put up and take down.

Hooray the links work, but I have just reread your post I thought you meant 4 people in total not 4 DC's plus yourselves so probably best to ignore me .

Thanks Suzie, does your Kansas come in bigger sizes? Also DH onlt wants one he can stand up in

We have the Quechua Base Seconds 4.2 from Decathlon and it is unbelievably easy to pitch. I did it on my own in 5 mins and took it down in the same time too. Unfortunately, I don't think it is big enough for you as it only sleeps four. They do a bigger one but its really just a giant living space with no bedrooms. Our other tent is a great big Vango Diablo which would suit you for size but takes over an hour to pitch. I really don't know of anything in between....

Sonilaa · 29/05/2010 14:06

what about getting 2 of the quechua base seconds? one for you, dh and dog and one for the kids ?

LadyBiscuit · 29/05/2010 14:10

You can get an extension for the Quechua though so you've got an extra bedroom

I can put mine up and down on my own too - I love it

bratnav · 29/05/2010 20:17

How about a Vango Tigress 800? It looks easy enough to put up. Does anyone have one?

My friends have this and it is sooo easy to put up as all poles are permanently in - you sort of shake it & snap poles into place.

We then bought a gazebo with the same frame and love it.

I have brought the quencha and can put it up on my own in 5 minutes down same to .plus ds 1 can stand up in living area he's 6 foot. But I have invested in a separate tent for them

Wiggletastic · 30/05/2010 18:41

What is this extension you speak of Ladybiscuit? - sounds like a good idea for more space...

We love our Vango Diablo, it's a fantastic roomy and cosy tent, but a pig to put up. Even with practice it takes us over an hour ( the same to pack away) and we've just got fed up with it. We called it the 'divorce tent' as we always ended up having a row. Our new Khyam Harewood arrived this week and we've had our first go at putting it up today. What a difference! We didn't realise until we started putting it up that there were no instructions with it (will have to phone up tomorrow) but even so we were done in about 20 mins, even with our cat's 'help'.(and no arguements!). I think I could quite easily do it by myself.

Fantastic, thanks Pixel, will it really be ok for 6 of us?
