Family campsite in wales??

I'm planning to go camping the first week of the summer hols and wondered if anyone knew of a good family campsite in wales.
I'm going with my mum, my 10yr old sister and 21month old daughter. Would like somewhere that has showers etc and just good all round kid-friendly atmosphere.
Don't know wales that well but would be nice to have somewhere near to or on the coast.
Can anyone help??????

Thanks xx

we went to anglesey and it was fab. just google it or try ukcampsite. if i have time later i will look, it was up high but you walked down to the huge beach. wonderful and friendly , quite basic but all you needed.

Have you a preferred part of Wales?

Porthcawl is lovely and there are sites nearby, and there is also tenby, whitesands, and Cardigan / Newport in the West (I eman the other Newport, not the one where we are LOL- nice enough but holidays? Only if in the celtic manor anyway LOL)

North Wales is so far from here- 4 hours- so it's best to decide on the region first I think

SanctiMoanyArse · 24/05/2010 18:58

Oh and keep it a secret I wont normally mention it but there is a site called ty parke in the west of wales that is entirely to die for and only tkaes famillies

Goodness knows if they ahve availability but with ten pitches only its worth a shot

This site is lovely, right by the lakeside and is very child friendly. There is lots to do in the surrounding area too. We stayed there last year.

We are staying here in July, it looks quite nice.

overthemill · 24/05/2010 19:13

this
is where we stayed. it was really lovely and very friendly

SanctiMoanyArse · 24/05/2010 19:22

We're going to beddgelert in August, supposed to be nice

Lakeside one looks nice but lakes and water a no-no for us (SN kids)

Slubberdegullion · 24/05/2010 19:30

yay Peachy who is not Peachy is back!

Home farm on Anglesey gets the mn thumbs up (clean loo awards ). I know of a couple nice but basic sites on the Lleyn missseptember and can link if you are that way headed.

hely, I've booked a week at that site in Bala on your recommendation...ir better be good

helyg · 24/05/2010 20:21

we loved it and may well go back for a weekend later in the year, so hopefully you won't be disappointed!

missseptember · 24/05/2010 20:22

Thanks for all your suggestions, they're very helpful. SanctiMoanyArse - don't have a preferred part, just would like to be near the coast. We are in York but not too bothered about how far it is to drive. We felt cornwall/devon might be too much of a trek, and we've been there loads of times, although dd has done several road trips to France without any fuss at all!
Any more links much appreciated! Same goes for tips on camping with a toddler (especially regarding sleeping), am a little apprehensive!

Anyone been around the St. Davids area?

SanctiMoanyArse do you know of any good family campsites in Porthcawl or Tenby? My mum likes the look of both of those. She's leaning towards being in the south of wales more than the north

The Ty Pareke one is near St Davids, we went last year and its our fave site

Tenby or Porthcawl- will have a look later for you, can think of a few just need to put names to them IYSWIM

overthemill · 25/05/2010 07:32

oh yes and my sister has camped at st davids and loved it

SanctiMoanyArse · 25/05/2010 08:45

St D is gorgeous; St D for teh cathedral (and the lovely chip shop down teh alley LOL), White Sands for beach, drive to tenby for more traisiotnal seaside theme parks etc

Sunchi · 26/05/2010 23:06

St. David's is wonderful. We've stayed at the Hendre Eynon site for four years running. Lots of families and space. Very friendly.

Lots of scenery and fab beaches. Stunning walks. Bodyboarding heaven.

I live in Wales and went to school in Porthcawl. It doesnt compare to St. David's.

Tenby is fab and not as far to drive as St. David's.

West Wales has become very popular so you really do need to book your holiday asap.
