Can you recommend a campsite on the Dorset coast?

We'd like to be near a sandy beach preferably, with reasonable facilities, not too rustic!

We're going with another family and have 4 pre-schoolers between us.

Any ideas?

This was OK - not amazing but good - it's nearest Chesil beach but think there are a few sandy beaches a short drive away. Next door is a child friendly pub that does food. We went there with babies but there were a few families.

Might be too rustic for your purposes but near lots of good places.

i've never been to it, but ulwell (think I've got l's in right place) sounds nice on www.ukcampsites.co.uk. its a bit expensive in summer hols but has some facilities. its near studland which is lovely. we've been to west fleet - think they have nocked down the disgusting toilets and warmwell - both of which has some facilities and were ok campsites - not walking distance to a sandy beach though , and not good enough for my top 3 sites. dorset if lovely (we live here)

lulworth cove is the one. steep walk to beach but wonderful views and quiet, family oriented. we went with 3 under 7s.

if you go to lulworth i would suggest not pitching under the crows. there's a couple of small fields, slightly further from entrance that are better. you will get woken at the crack of dawn and get poo on your tent otherwise. agree nice location - but on top of hill so windy. its a pebbly beach, but very senic. unfortunately wasn't quiet when we went as tent with 20ish singles made noise till the early hours - but we may have been unlucky. nice, simple entertainment for children laid on one night

Thank you both - they bopth look nice,. though I'm leaning towards Lulworth Cove as it's cheaper!

I shall consult my friend - thanks again

We've just come back from a few days camping near Lulworth Cove and Durdle door, which have very pretty shingle beaches. There are sandy beaches further along the coast. The site we stayed on is about 15/20 mins drive from Lulworth but the campsite also has sea views and direct access to the coastal path. It is a 5 mins walk to small rocky beaches and a nice pub. The site was practically empty when we went which was perfect but could be a bit too noisy if packed during half term. Definitely not rustic - immaculate fields and two toilet/shower and laundry blocks, a small shop a sweet little playground and horses/rabbits around. It's very easy camping if that's what you want. It's also 20 mins from Monkey World!

this is the site
