Has anyone got a trailer tent?

We are thinking of getting a trailer tent, probably off ebay. Has any one got one and how do they find them? Would you recomend one? Are they as easy as they look to put up? What should we be looking for in a trailer tent?

We've just got one! We can update after next weekend - our first outing.

Cheers FM much appreciated.

Where did you get yours from?

We had a suncamp 250out of the local rag, was fabbo though took a while to put up so not ideal for short stays. Excellent being off the floor, aam yearning for a folding camper now.

Ah! is the time taken to put up a normal thing with most trailer tents then? I was thinking they would be easier than a tent, so we could do weekends as well. Hmmm!

We found our Dandy trailer tent on Ebay.
This doesn't take too long to put up, the more you do it the better you get, think we could have ours done in 20 mins. The awning takes the most time, but if its only the weekend, then you wouldn't really need an awning.
Try looking for a Dandy as you can put these away wet as they are made from PVC.

Yes the awning takes up the longest time - a dandy is a folding camper which tend to be more expensive as more fancy.

What we're really after is an improvement on an hour (probably the fastest we can manage now, we got it down from 2.5hrs) to just erect the thing. Well actually it is still at least 2hrs to get the tent fully erected, pegged out, carpet in, car unpacked, beds inflated, sofas inflated, cupboards erected and food and clothes unpacked, wind breakers up and so on.

How do the various trailer tents compare?

Thanks.

there is a dome type one that cabanon do that looks like it could halt a divorce as same principle as dome tent for the awning - expensive though. Our sunncamp was a bit of a mare but doeable - i imagine the 350 and 400/ 500 must be even more of a mare having such big awnings.

we had one and used it ponce and then gave it away. The trailer part was easy enough but awning was a PITA.
We brought a folding camper instead. Its great because it takes 10-20 mins to set up, and no pegging out. Still canvas top so not like a caravan. We also love the fact we dont have to put on awning if we arrive late because all cooking stuff is inside trailer part. Def worth the extra if you can afford it
We brought camper end of last year and so far have used it 3 times and have 3 more planned over summmer
We did get ours as a bargain though.

TheFallenMadonna · 23/05/2010 17:30

Sorry - disappeared off. We bought ours on ebay. It's pretty easy to put up (trial run in the garden), but we are worried about where we're going to put all our stuff when we go away. We usually take a trailer, and if the tent is the trailer...

I would love love love a folding camper and am so at fc owners. I have declared to dh i am saving like a nutter and we will own one next year!

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 23/05/2010 19:25

well really worth checking at end of season as we got ours for £300. Also check under other names as some just list as trailer tent.

nappyzoneloveschinesefood · 23/05/2010 19:28
