Which shops (in London) has hot water bottles in stock in store?

Minor panic.

Typically I left this too late, but we're camping this Saturday, and none of the Boots or Superdrugs in Covent Garden / Charing Cross / Oxford Street area has any in stock - apparently they've moved their winter stock out.

I've only got lunch and directly after work, so am starting to panic ever so slightly. Argh!!

Has anyone seen any around?

On sale in John Lewis in Cambridge I'm afraid, but Oxford St might have some. You could try ringing. Not sure how much they were, even on sale but were in cosy covers. You really need cheapo jobs but if you're desperate and going this freezing weekend...!

MisSalLaneous · 13/05/2010 21:01

Thanks fireandlife! I'll call them first thing tomorrow morning! Yes, normally I'd prefer the plain rubber ones (I love the ribbed almost burning feeling of a newly filled bottle), but I'd settle on anything for this weekend, am getting increasingly desperate.

Not even Argos stocks anymore.

I'm a bit worried about half term. I think I've only got one hot water bottle with a lid! Think I'll start scouring the shops now!

hormonesnomore · 13/05/2010 21:05

99p Stores here had them recently. Do you have one near you?

MisSalLaneous · 13/05/2010 21:06

Well, if you don't need them tomorrow like I do, you can order online on John Lewis - they've got some of those normal nice rubbery ones.

You would def find them in independant chemists like Lloyds.....

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 13/05/2010 21:07

I would guess John Lewis. Or Harrods, if you're really desperate [disclaimer: have not set foot in Harrods since I was eight, but don't they pride themselves on selling everything?). Or there's a Cotswold Outdoor somewhere near Picadilly that might be worth a shot.

EmilyStrange · 13/05/2010 21:08

where are you as many of the boots in north london still have some. Also old fashioned chemists tend tos tock them especially the specialist chemists that stock equipment for elderly customers etc.

MisSalLaneous · 13/05/2010 21:08

Oh really, hormonesnomore? Well, there is one nearby, but they won't be open before I need to leave for work. However, I'll have a stroll around during lunch tomorrow, and will look out for one.

Amazon have some too.

MisSalLaneous · 13/05/2010 21:12

Sorry, I post too slowly. Thanks for the great suggestions!

Ah yes, independent chemist brilliant idea - they don't replace stock so quickly, do they?

I work in central London and will only be home after shops closed, so I'll have to buy there. Dh tried the Boots and Superdrugs around Charing Cross, and none there.

Well, for some odd reason I didn't think of going to the camping stores, but actually, good idea ProfessorLaytonIMLS, so will try that too if no luck.

Was going to suggest trying a chemist...been beaten to it!

MisSalLaneous · 13/05/2010 21:43

Thanks though, sockmonkey. I don't know why I didn't think about that!

Update: I got some from John Lewis, Oxford St. Thanks for everybody's help.

Hooray!

MisSalLaneous · 14/05/2010 21:36

I'm currently trying mine out on my feet! The ones that I originally wanted (these) were £6.95, but then I saw exactly the same ones in a knitted cover for £7.50 - marked down from £15, so got those instead. Very impressed with it, it's lovely!

Also gives me another excuse to use my Eydon Kettle all weekend, which can only be a good thing.
