Irish campsite recommendations?

We are going over to Ireland in Aug, landing at Rosslare and looking for 2 campsites if possible.
We are staying with friends for the middle weekend on the Beara Peninsula so ideally would like one west coastish for the first few days and one back towards Rosslare for the second few days.

If no direct recommendations does anyone know of any good websites similar to Campsite UK?

TIA

West coastish, I would aim for north of Galway the bays on thebottom end of Conemara are stunning and then you could work your way round the coast down to Beara.

On the way back then around Cork is nice, Cobh.

It will be fine, last year we did Germany and back in 3 days and also dorve up to Antrim. Are you getting the day ferry or night one to Rosslare?

CrispyTheCrisp · 02/05/2010 20:26

We usually do 12hr drive to the Loire Fanny and it's ok. I was just hoping this holiday might be a bit less driving

If you are doing the day ferry then there is a nice hotel near Rosslare for you to stay in and the you could drive during the day stopping a couple of times.

roundwood looks good and just south of Dublin?

LadyGardenia · 02/05/2010 21:11

The setting is beautiful here, they have normal tent spots as well as all that yurty glamping stuff but you probably don't want Co Cork again.

It's a good drive as well (other side of country from Rosslare) but Achill Island is a nice and still unspoiled spot - you drive across Achill Sound so no problems with ferry etc. Activities would be walking, outdoorsy stuff, if that is what you want for dc. Keel Beach & the Minaun cliffs vv nice there.

dizzydixies · 02/05/2010 21:21

LadyG - really? do you not think they should just arrive and pitch up at the front of PowersCourt? she could say that you and the Queen of Scotland sent them

LadyGardenia · 02/05/2010 21:22

Powerscourt might be a bit cramped for them though. And you never know who might be watching you through any of those windows!

LadyGardenia · 02/05/2010 21:23

Brilliant linkage as usual

64 windows

If you are heading for the west coast, have you considered taking the overnight Swansea-Cork ferry? Really cuts down on the driving...

Cape Clear island is fantastic and well worth a day trip even if you don't decide to camp there.
