Just booked 2 weeks in Cornwall (July and end of Aug), would like to think it'll be blissful sunshine but think I'll plan a bit just incase. DC 6,6 and 5.So what do you do to amuse the dc when you're tent bound,in between trips to Flambards ?

card games, board games or just get wet

Don't be tent-bound. Beaches are fabulous in the rain. But think about how you're going to dry stuff - if the site doesn't have a tumble drier then think about getting a cheap tent you can put up to chuck wet stuff into until you can find a laundrette. Taht way your main tent stays dry.

if the stuff is wet it may as well stay in a bag outside, as getting any wetter in the rain wont be a problem.

Scavenger hunts are still fun in the rain

we always check where nearest swimming pool is, and library as they can be good place to get warm as well!! have taken note of soft play as well but not used yet....

and also local town hopefully will have cheap book shop like 'the works' they always have loads of activity/books craft stuff and use time choosing etc then doing can last for ages. that covered us last summer though part tempted to take dvd player... in case of days and days of rain this year..and hide it in the car so only to be brought out in case of real emergency {grin}

if going out forests/woods can be good as bit more protected than windy beaches...

packing up the tent is my fav. rainy day activity [chortle].

when you camp you realise that it v. rarely rains for hours on end. just put on some waterproofs and do what you would normally do

CaurnieBred · 10/05/2010 12:25

As Billy Connelly once said there is no such thing as bad weather; only bad clothes. Have waterproof jackets, trousers and wellies and you are ready for anything - and lots of places will be quieter. Kids don't mind the rain, is just us wussie adults!
