Please help me find a small campsite near a sandy beach in SE England

Has anyone been to a small campsite, preferably with as little as possible facilities and ideally no caravans etc, that is within walking distance for a toddler of a sandy beach? Nothing against caravaners of course, but I'd love something really small if possible.

Because it would be for a short weekend break only, we're limiting the search to SE England, so no further from SE London than Sussex, really.

I haven't been, but I love the look of Camber Sands, but can't find a small campsite there. I might just be rubbish with searching though...

This holiday park near Camber Sands is, for example, the kind of place I'm trying to avoid. Please feel free to share if you've been and found it lovely, I might change my mind. That happens often enough.

Yes, you're right, I don't actually think there are any. Well, none that I can find anyway. Still, a lot of nice ideas mentioned, so although not what I hoped for originally, I'm really looking forward to trying some out.

Love that last place you linked to!

It's here, TeamEdward. The owner sounded absolutely lovely when I spoke to her, so I can't wait!

Normans Bay near Pevensey springs to mind...there are caravans but it is a typical camping & caravanning club site and quite informal...

Whilst I think it might be a bit too busy for us over weekends, the location looks great, so will keep that in mind if we ever get away midweek, thanks EggyAllenPoe.

I think I need to move to Wales.

It does, doesn't it? And also perfect for a wannabe-hermit like me - it's completely private. You live in a lovely area!
