to go camping this weekend? We are booked to go to Blackberry Woods so am really excited as booked it close to a year ago but the forecast says 2 degrees on Friday night!!!!! Not worried about me and DH but worried that our 19 month old DS will FREEEEEEEEZE! The general weather is sunny during the day and the temp looks like rising for Saturday night but am slightly concerned.....What do you think??? We are only half an hour's drive from site so I guess we could just come home if it got too cold......but wouldn't really want to do that! Has anyone gone camping when it's that chilly? Was it ok?????

Go go go! We are booked to go to BW in three weeks time - again, booked a year ago and I CANNOT wait!!Have 17 month and 2.5 DCs and will be giong whatever the weather as am so excited! Go with loads of blankets and layers and come home if its too cold. All part of the adventure of camping! have fun!!!

Deffo go!

Your DS will be fine, you can wrap him up really warm and you and your DH can sleep either side of him to keep him extra warm.

We're camping too this weekend! Can't wait. We've been c\mping in cold weather like that and DS has always kept toasty warm inside his little nest of sleeping bags, duvets and blankets. Also, he wears a hat if it's very cold, and tights under his pjs, and a fleece on top.

I'd go if I were you, and take as many hot water bottles as possible. You could always start a fire early so that, as soon as the sun goes down, you've got somewhere warm to sit. Wish I were you!

Ive just looked at their website.....im loving the bus,my son would adore sleeping in that, but would it not be a little cold on there without a door

MisSalLaneous · 14/04/2010 19:18

Oh, the bus has a door. It's those old fashioned types that slide open and close.

MisSalLaneous · 14/04/2010 19:22

Click on menu (top left) and select holiday bus. You can see the door closed on one of the first photos. I'm trying to remember whether there was a heater in there or not. It definitely wasn't cold though.

MisSalLaneous · 14/04/2010 19:25

How old is your son, Nattynoos? Reason I'm asking is that we stayed in it when ds was about a year and a half, and it was too much excitement in there for him, so we didn't get much sleep! He refused altogether to sleep in the "play" / children's room part, so ended up with us anyway. He's fine in a tent or hotel rooms btw, so not quite sure why. Might be all the bright colours. On the upside, there was a lovely play area in front of the bus (where the other small caravans are), so he could run around there whilst we had a glass of wine around the fire.

Ooooo thanks everyone, very excited now - thanks for your encouragement!! I'm sure we'll be fine all wrapped up by the lovely fire!!! Have fun at BW when you go Jenniferq and overmydeadbody enjoy your camping too this weekend!!

P.S Love the sound of the bus although I think my DS would also be WAY too excited to actually sleep on it!!

Can't say i've ever tried Haven, as i know some friends that have had awful experiences at Haven campsites.

We did however go to a site called seaview which is in Kent, which i think is owned by Park holdiays uk. This was a lovely site, and apparently is undertaking some refurbs this year which should make it even better. we plan to go back in sept time so will keep you posted!

BariatricObama · 15/04/2010 16:34

we camped last weekend. it was baltic at night but amazing during the day. bring duvets and wear socks

Grumpla · 15/04/2010 17:47

Do it! I wish I was going camping this weekend!
Learning to sleep in a bobble hat and mittens is a skill that will stand your DS in good stead for the rest of his life.

kiwibella · 15/04/2010 20:23

oh.my.goodness... the bus is soo cool. It is still my hubs grand plan to buy one of these to travel home to New Zealand in when we finally decide to return. He'll probably be doing this journey alone . Although a night here could sway one of us the other way?
