Going camping this summer with 2 children - 1 and 3 years old. The little one is very lively and tends to throw himself around his cot before going to sleep. Looking for ideas on the best way to contain him!

Wondering whether to take a regular travel cot (bit big for tent??) and whether anything more light weight would just tip over?

Any advise very welcome.

We used to take a travel cot. It was very useful as a play pen when I was cooking too.

You need a Bushbaby which is basically a pop up camping cot with a zipped side

My DC adored being in there - I brought it out during the day and they used it as a playpen.

They are pretty expensive but I'm sure you could get one on ebay for not much

Agree with travel cot idea, we used one at that age (and older ie. 18 months). Good to be able to put them in as playpen as well.

Definitely travel cot. We had DD in her samsonite pop-up cot until she started to roll over and sit up and then she could tip it over. Travel cot is also great to put her in when pitching the tent etc.

Definately a travel cot! Has many uses as everyone has said above. When cooking its a godsend to know they are out of the way. Also, used it for runaway 2 year old as a time out prison I mean naughty spot! Worked a treat as he hated being confined in it during the day when everyone else was playing.

Thanks for the advice. Hadn't thought about all the other uses. Was wondering what to do with them when putting the tent up! Will definitely take it.

I never bothered with cots - too much hassle. Mine were either in with us (useful to make sure they don't get cold in the night) and then on their own blow up mattresses. I used ready beds. I know some people don't like using them for very little people, but we never had a problem with them.
