Hydrostatic head is 2000 enough???

Am currently looking at tents for me and DS to camp in and most of them that I come across are 2000HH when ideally I would prefer 3000HH.

What do you think, is 2000 enough or not? In past have had a vango with a 3000HH, and before that, our first tent was a ProAction one from argos, not sure what the HH on it was but had it years and it never leaked during rain.

Not really.

Our friends Argos Pro Action DID leak, as did other cheap tents, on several Bank Hol weekends over the last few years.

I would say min 3000 for safety, the tent I want to downsize to (a Khyam) has 5000.

2000 is OK for showers, but not a downfall.

I would prefer to have a 3000 + Then again I used to have a little 2 man dome tent I bought back in the days when 1500 was considered good LOL , I camped in the garden with it last summer in heavy rain and it still kept us dry.

The main problem came if you touched the sides, the gap between the inner and outer wasn't great, that's what brought the water in.

I would go for a 2000 HH if I was going to use it for fair weather camping, those occasions when you look at the forecast then decide to go.

Thanks for replies, as I say my last was 3000 and held us up through several storms - think I will stic to 3000 or over, would rather stay put in a dry pitched tent with DS whilst it rains than give up and head home with a leaky one. Particularly as we are camping without a car so if tent wet literally no dry shelter or quick escape!
