Has anyone been, have read some good reviews but would like to know if it is as good as it sounds. Also does it hire out fridges? Thought i read somewhere it did but can't find any info on its web site.
Also how long would it take to drive from Calais?
Thanks

I am going this year as have been to other Castels site last year and it was of a good std...

Not sure about fridges - we have a caravan with fridge and usually manage with that...

Google maps will give you driving directions and times and they are fairly accurate, but it is a long way from Calais - about 480 miles or 8 hours driving time not taking account of stops or any delays, and I would recommend an overnight stop, and use a site not an Aire...

We are doing 2 diff sites in france and sequoia parc is our second week, so on the way home, we will do Sequoia parc to just outside Rouen in 1 day, stop overnight and then about 2 hours from there to the euro tunnel terminal the next morning...

Yes, I went last year!

The water complex is amazing, fantastic for older children, but also with a great toddler pool. However, there are not enough sunloungers to go round, so be prepared to either queue for it opening to rush in and barge the Dutch / Germans out of the way , or take in your own!

It is a huge site, but doesn't feel oppressively busy, although the pool area is obviously very busy.

We drove straight from Calais - about 10 hours I think, including a few stops.

I think they might hire out fridges, and bbq's? but I'm not sure as we didn't hire either.

Anything else you want to know?!

When are you going? we had two weeks in late July / early Aug and it was very hot

Thanks BigTillyMint, we are going last week of july and taking our own tent. Hubby and I are going to do the drive in one hit as only have a week there. We both drive so should be ok, glad to hear someone else has done it in a day.

Just hope we get the weather, booked direct with site and was pleased with the price, have always done keycamp/eurocamp before.

Which route out of interest did you take and any recommended stops?

The reason i booked this site is for the water complex, have twin 12 year girls so they can't wait to go, great to hear you had a fab time and enjoyed it. Any must see places/beaches we should go?
Thanks

We went via Calais, Rouen, Le Mans, Angers, Cholet (like the womble ), Niort IIRC. Can't remember where we stopped - I think we just looked out for services with lots of facilities on the signs / ones with the seesaw icon, which is kids play area.

Your DD's will love it, and may bump into another family we have met twice with twin DD's of 12 and twin DS's of 11!!!

The shop on-site is quite good, there is a playground where the DC all hung out and there are nightly "entertainments" in the bar area which the DC went to when not just hanging out. I found it a really friendly site despite beng huge (I don't think the no of pitches in the brouchures tallies with reality!) and the DC made lots of friends.

We take our bikes and went riding on the beach cycle route west of D26 and on the ile d'oleron. The beaches west of D26 were quieter and had fantastic waves if they want to do body-boarding, but the ile d'oleron was lovely too. There was a fab "go ape" type place in les mathes that the children really enjoyed. la Palmyre is a more traditional seaside place with a zoo (though we didn't try it) and I think Ronce-les-bains / la Tremblade was a nice place too
