Cloud Hill, Westermill, Burrowhayes, Millslade? I like the look of all of them and they all have good reviews on UK campsite forum. Would be grateful for any recommendations so I can choose between them!

We're going at Easter, with a campervan and the DSes (8 and 7). DS2 is autistic and has a bit of a penchant for visiting other people's vans, so somewhere where pitches aren't too close together would be better (for our fellow campers)

Cloudhill - I cycled past here last sept - it is beautiful. But not stayed at the campsite.

It is hilly - very hily and very narrow lanes to get there.

make sure your vehicles is really in tip top condition

It's a fairly new van and will have its service beforehand, so should be OK! But glad I won't be driving.
Anyone else?

thisone burrowhayes I have stayed at! but this would be 23-24 years ago...it was very basic then but a really really good location for both porlock and the moor.

Easy to get to aswell. Porlcok has a small supermarket and walking shop, tea shop etc and quay and beach.

You can go straight up on the moor fom here and walking from the campsite - you can walkfrom horner to cloutsham - which is beautiful

Millslade - very very pretty area just along from the first camp you listed. great pub at brendon for food.

I've heard that clouds hill can be noisy. We've stayed at Burrowhayes with 8 week old and toddler (tent) and loved it. Didn't pay too much attention but the vans didn't seem too close together. They are close to the stream through, which is deep under the bridge. Biut great for paddling elsewhere. We are going back this year for the 3rd year in a row. Great cream tea's in Horner!

I am leaning towards Burrowhayes - the thought of deep water is putting me off a bit, though both DSes would love a stream. DS2 doesn't have much sense of danger and if Dh and I are constantly on edge looking out for him we don't get much of a holiday - which is why we normally choose tiny sites, like the CCC's Certificated Locations. But DS1 would like to be somewhere a bit busier, with the chance to make some friends...

I've posted on the UK campsite forum as well and had one reply in favour of Cloud Hill. So still undecided really.

The stream is shallow everywhere else, apart from the bridge. There are two ways down to the stream, one down a little path on the right of the footbridge, and the other is over a little stone footbridge which leads to the shallower part. It is fantastic for paddling in, my DD1 who is 2 loved it. From what i remember, the vans are near the entrance to the site, which is NOT busy at all. But the stream has a sraight drop down to it also by the entrance. We camped in the sloping field, and it was safe enough to let my 2yo run around, and range quite far within site. If you can get a pitch closer to the field it would be further away from the stream. Have a great time wherever you chose!

Live locally and love cloud Farm - beautiful setting - but as no reservations, I've heard that on bank hols etc. it can get packed and that they pack them in a bit, so your Ds may not enjoy. |why don't you ring them and check out the time of year you want to go.Truly 'tis stunning setting.

Not stayed at Burrowhayes but have a house in Porlock (where it is) - lovely spot, choice of pubs, tea shops, small shops, couple of museums, lovely walks and easy access to unspoilt countryside.

A friend has just recommended Pool Bridge - do you know that site Karen?
