Or is it a bit, Sun readerish...not that I've got anything against Sun readers, we just don't like the same kind of holidays as they offer with their vouchers (please tell me you know what I mean and I'm not digging myself into a big hole with every word I say.........!)

Thanks

is that the site near Paris?

If it is the one I think it is, at the risk of joining you in the big hole >

However, we had a rubbish experience. Went with Eurocamp and the van was filthy, sorry make that plural as the 3 vans we were put in were all disgusting. Lucky my parents were with us and we spent the time in their touring van.

We were gutted as had been to Jura the week before with Eurocamp and had a totally different experience.

The touring facilities were nice though and there was a lot of stuff for kids, the restaurant was nice and reasonably priced and we went to Paris for the day and Disney for the day so ticked our boxes.

Hi, we stopped over for a week last Easter on our way back from a skiing holiday. It gets good reviews on tripadvisor so lots of people have obviously had a great time there.

We stayed in a Canvas holidays caravan which wappeared clean enough until my some spilled some water on the sofa and I used a towel to dry it off, the towel also picked up a fair amount of grot off the upholstery (urgh).

We also felt that the swimming pool had seen better days and the changing room floors were filthy. The outdoor beach/pool had a very sinister foam floating on the far side of it which we didn't notice until we had let our children play in the water.

The boating pool was fabulous and the kids spent hous paddling canoes up and down for not very much money at all! There are also lots of table tennis tables dotted around the park, in fact there is a wonderful purpose built barn dedicated to table tennis and they are free to play on, (take your own kit though).

The bakery was excellent.

The walk down into the old town is lovely and all the locals were very friendly and keen to teach our DC's French.

There is a lovely hidden parkland area which leads down to a peaceful river, we went down there every day and saw Hoopoes, Serins and heard Nightingales and Cuckoo. In the nearby Forest of Compiegne we also saw Black Woodpecker which made DH's day!

Pierrefronds Castle (sp?) is close by and good for a day out, they were filming the kids TV show 'Merlin' when we were there.

The only other Brit's that we saw were families with toddlers who were quietly walking to/from the bakery clutching baguettes, they looked like they might read the Gaurdian

The Canvas rep's were very helpful, we arrived late and stressed (4am) they were waiting for us and were just pleased that we were ok! After that they left us totally alone but their little kiosk was always open.

Finally there did, on occasion, seem to be a bit of a strong whiff of sewage and a very smelly tanker kept driving around the site
which was a bit off putting

We have been a three times- twice for stopover3/4 nights, once for a week-my children absolutely love it.You can go pedaloing/canoeing, on trampolines and little cars, there is a table tennis barn and also a mini football pitch with an ongoing footnball game in the evening which suited my son down to the ground. The swimming pool is nice but changing facilities are a bit down at heel. It is also strangely peaceful in the evenings and lovely stars when we were there. It is very convenient for Disney and also Parc Asterix which we much preferred - we drove to the parks but the site does a bus. We did get the bus to Paris one time which was good. Pierrefonds is very nice.
On the downside, it is very British indeed- you could almost not be in France at all-also the river can be a bit smelly. The surrounding area is not the most picturesque! I don't think we will go when the children are grown up!but will probably go again for stopovers.

We had a few nights there in October half term. Agree with everything said here - our van with Eurocamp was foul but we had gone for the most basic and we were hardly in there apart from to sleep! The pool was in a right state - kids pool was all coming apart on the tiling on the floor and the whole pool complex was bloody freezing! Mind you, it was the last week of the season so thing had just gone to ground! Like other posters, the kids loved it and there was loads to do!

I've heard good things about the other site in Paris "Etangs Fleuris"

The first year we went, we stayed with Keycamp - the van was lovely, the staff were great.

Second year we went with canvas, again we had a geat experience.

Our two kids (5 & 8) loved it every year we went (we had a year in between where we went to Nice & they hated it)

The bakery is the best place EVER The chippy on site & the restaurant are both expensive so if going i'd advise self catering... or buying it elsewhere.

The pools were fab when we were there (June 08 was the last time) The parks were great fun, loads of space for the kids to run around, tennis, football, table tennis, golf, Um... can't think what else, oh yeah, a climbing wall, etc... plus we had a day out to Paris, to Eurodisney & to the viking part which I can't remember!

We're not going this year though, due to finances!! Think we'll hire a cottage in Donegal

fatzak - was just about to post about how lovely les etangs fleuris is!! We stayed there to go to Disny last year and it's lovely and quiet and just right. The bar is very quiet and a bit musty smelling inside - but we st outside while kids played on the big trampoline! Pool is small but so is the site!

We've been to La Croix 3X and we love it there. It is a beautiful campsite - there are many pics on google. here thats not me hereThere is TONS for the kids to do (you can get a pre paid activity card which was worth the money), and the canoeing etc was enjoyed by all.

BUT cleanliness is not a strong point - I have found that with most french campsites we have gone to.

Pierrefronds castle is gorgeous - as is the village, and last time we went to Paris for the day.
