here?

I am really thinking about getting one. Love how easy it looks and how big it looks inside. There will only be 4 of us when we camp but are going for 14 nights and will have a 1.5 year old and a 2.5 year old when we go for our main holiday next september.

Wanted something we can all stand in and move around in if we get a rainy day. And wanted one with one big bedroom for while the kids are small as we can all fit in together. And the extra rooms can be used for storage or for a little play room type thing to keep all the toys in. Or just have extra living space which I think will be extra handy.

We used a 4 bed tunnel tent this year but it was only for a few days and DD2 was only a few weeks old. It was OK but was a bit cramped so would struggle for a long holiday.

If anybody has any opinions before I buy I would be ery greatful. It is out of our budget really. I had said £100 but this seems to be the only tent I can find that I really like the look of and has everything I want and for a fairly reasonable £. There are a couple slightly cheaper on ebay, but my Dad pointed out to me how good Argos are at taking things back if something went wrong etc so would have that back up where as I wouldn't from ebay.

My neighbour has the exact same tent, bought from Argos.

Their last expedition with it (their second time away in it) they came home, early, with the poles bent or snapped in two, the guys snapped and the roof poles bent out of shape...just because it was a bit on the windy side! It doesn't have a sewn in groundsheet which I think is a must, especially with kids, because there is no way of keeping the floor dry and whilst it is a lovely big tent with loads of room inside I would not waste £160 on it. Plus they have tried to buy replacement parts for their tent and Argos cannot help and nor can they find the make of the tent anywhere.

Have you tried looking at other websites...we recently bought a new tent from 'Go Outdoors' plus there is a company called 'Touchwood Tents'.

Where are you located? i would seriously think about ebay and getting a better quality tent. There are people on here who have successfully used Argos tents as a starter tent but you kow you like camping and what something more long term (i assume?)
This Outwell Colorado 8 is exactly the same as the Argos one - we had this as our first tent. The updated version here is the Indiana and has a 'bathtub riser' groundsheet - so not a sig but a little more protection.

hth any more questions then bring them on - fed up of the dark and cold and want to talk tents!

Hmmmm, thanks, thats some food for thought!

Lucy - those look good, although our budget was £100 originally - we have no money at the moment. The first one has no pics which is a shame. The second looks lovely though. So do you think they are a much better quality then the one in Argos? We felt a bit reasurred that ARgos are good at taking things back and there is always one nearby, so if it broke while we are away, we could possibly take it back while we are there.

We are on the boarders of middlesex and south buckinghamshire. Postcode UB9

Thanks for the info, will definatly look into that one. Any more info would be greatly appriciated. It is sort of a starter tent - DH has never been camping and isn't convinced. I used to go as a child but last year I took the girls for 4 days in haven and dragged my sister along too and we loved it. DD2 was only about 3 weeks old though!

We go camping in large groups and one family borrows one of these when we go. It is ok until heavy rain sets in - when it leaks! It only has a 2000HH, I would want a MINIMUM 3000.

The Outdoor Megastore normally has good deals on their website.

Lucy - I am about 40 miles from the essex one you lined to, its still going cheap, do you think its worth the trip? Its sort of accross london to me and multimap estimates about 80mins drive each way?

Well they are a good make of tent and it says it's in good condition. there are a couple of pictures of the tent on my profile if you want to look - we have a side canopy on ours too.

The only thing it doesn't have is a sewn in groundsheet - You sort of lie out the groundsheet inside but if you don't mind that then it may be worth the trip.
Can you email him and ask if he can send you some pictures?
