On Costa Brava for instance.

Boden?

Or English breakfasts and vodka shots?

where are you really thinking?

Now I have done camping in Spain on the east and west side both up north.

Personel feeling stay away from the west side in the north corner - can be a bit wet..

East side Bareclelona... camping on the beach and a bus ride into the city.

Or you can go a little further south and there are loads, and loads of campsite - not cheap mind, expensive even by french rates.

what are you really looking for mother?

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 25/11/2009 22:09

I'm lookin for boden innit, do I look like a vodka shots kind of girl??? (don't answer that...)

There's a few Eurocamp places in costa Brava, and I'm just wondering what they're like. DS and DH want the touristy things like a waterpark and sun and other kids on the campsite, but i want culture and Historical Places to Visit.

And none of us want to go somewhere loud and tacky. Which is how I imagine Costa Brava. But then, Eurocamp is supposed to be ok, isn't it???

mother - we didn't go south of Barcelona in the summer - as just south is apparently not to my taste, so my father told e but he drives down all along the coast (he goes through to Portugal every Jan) and some parts are good.

I have stayed on eurocampsite, in my own get up and they have been ok.

Why particularly spain? it is cheaper in soem parts than france but the touristy bits hit the wallet hard....

I love vodka and especially jelly wobbles..

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 26/11/2009 22:38

Why spain? Well, we're trying to avoid Italy, where we've done four different campsites and it's getting a bit predictable, though I've never been to Sorrento or Naples so I quite fancy that (woudl have to sacrifice kids for DS to play with though, only Vacansoleil down there - dutch / german)

DH didn't like France. We went to the Loire and stayed in a gite. I think South of France in one of the touristy bits might suit well, but I need to convince him of that.

And we do want to camp, or at least, stay somewhere where there's a chance DS will hook up with other kids. A good pool, and maybe a playground.

I think we were looking at the bit which is north of Barcelona.

Not north of Barcelona, to the east really. On the coast towards France.

And no we're not really thinking of sacrificing other children. That would be weird Big bonfire and chanting...

You know what I mean.

ahh then I would recommend Perpigan

and I know a little campsite just south of this city which is really nice with a fab pool and lovely area to explore and great restaurant in village to eat, beach not far 10 min in car and then a whole coast to use and tacky in petit orm a little further noth but it is only a small area of tatt.

you wouldn't be sacrificing dc either as english where found on this site on two speerate ocasisons

let me go and find site online if I can

Ivykaty44 · 26/11/2009 22:49

I am struggling to find it

I can give you another near the Pont du Gard which is nice as well - a really lovely area with a hugh Roman infleuence left over from 200 years ago.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 26/11/2009 23:07

Does that area have anything like a waterpark?

DH has decided that the thing he really wants I've almost been tempted to have a week in perpignan and then drive down to Costa Brava. means two airports, but we did that kind of thng in italy.

I spot no one else is chipping in!

Have you got holiday plans for next year?

portugal for easter and then...

we are staying in uk in the summer

We did calais to barcelona in August, took three weeks to drive sloly and stop of on the way and I wanted to do the pnt du gard again.

france is expensive with the euro and there inflation its a double whammy Spain nto much better.

I can't remember whether there is a water park or not?? yes there is lots
see map

carcissone is lovely - did that last easter, as we flew out to Barcelona at easter and drove home - then drove back in the summer and flew home onthe retun leg of the ticket as it was the cheapest flights

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 27/11/2009 10:07

Two long drives across France! Wow, you're a brave woman. sounds good though.

I'm starting to get the hint about Perpignan

this place

It is a lovely campsite, walking distance from the village shops which are well stocked. Driving distance from the sea and beach, the city, the airport and a lot of other rather nice attrachtions. The family have another campsite

this is the tacky bit

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 29/11/2009 08:23

That doesn't look so tacky... this puts the fear of god into me!

Lovely campsite

We had a great week here at El Delfin Verde one year, followed by a week on the Languedoc (but we stayed with Siblu who had better placed vans.)

This year we are driving to this site but trying THomson Al fresco for the first time. HUGE waterpark near this one.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 29/11/2009 21:17

Ooh, thanks for that

And I hadn't looked at other companies, so that's useful.

Do you get British families doing Siblu? I only ask because we've used VacanSoleil before and it's mostly Dutch / German, so DS feels a bit lonely.

Milliways · 30/11/2009 18:33

You do get a lot of Brits, but they also sell to French & Dutch families. They have good kids clubs as well.

Thomson are just Brits, but they don't have so many vans per site as Siblu etc.
