....especailly Ca'Savio in Italy?

I have never been to a holiday park before or stayed in a mobile home, so not sure whether this company is any good? Brochure looks good and me dc will be 6 and 18 months when we go in may next year....any help/info appreciated!

Never been to Italy but been to about a dozen in France, never had any problems, we always have a great time.

Stayingsunnygirl · 13/08/2009 14:53

We've been to Keycamp sites in France three years on the trot - one in the Vendee, and then twice to one on the Cote d'Azur. We've found that the vans are well equipped and pretty comfortable - though if the weather isn't good, there isn't a huge amount of living space.

On the second site, we had a van with decking outside, and that was definitely worth the cost - it more than doubled the living space.

At both sites the facilities have been good - the pools were clean and the toddler pools looked fun and safe (our dses were too old for them so can't speak from experience). The activities vary from site to site - this year and last year we did scuba diving organised by the site and dh and the boys did river kayaking. There were plenty of activities for the little ones too.

Both sites we stayed on were smaller sites, so were pretty quiet at night. I'd definitely go to a keycamp site again.

Try Des Ormes in Brittany, its amazing!
We went as it was close enough to drive, so if we hated it we could just drive back, but loved every minute!

Hassled · 13/08/2009 18:49

We went to the same one as monkeyface in Brittany - was all excellent. Nice staff, well equipped - I would think the standard across Europe would be much the same.

lilibet · 14/08/2009 11:57

I have posted on another thread about Des Ormes, I think I am in a minority with my opinion, but it's the worst site we have been to.

Tortington · 14/08/2009 11:58

keycamp is good - and compared to other holidays cheap if you drive.

i can't get over why people would fly drive camp - its not a cheap option at all - why not just book a holiday to italy

GrapefruitMoon · 14/08/2009 12:25

Custy, because they've probably got kids like mine who can't be in the car for more than 10 minutes without fighting . We still drive though!

Didn't with Keycamp but Canvas, but could definitely recommend Union Lido which is near to Ca'Savio. We had a fab week there when dd was about 2.5. Great water parks, huge beach, loads of bars and restaurants. And wide screen TVs everywhere cos of the World Cup being on - which of course it will be next year too.

PS Eurocamp / Keycamp have the best accommodation. Get the largest mobile home you can afford, preferably with decking and a/c. We went with Siblu to Lac des Reves (very very nice)in July a bit last minute booking. We had a 2 bed Esprit (standard). It was clean and fitted out nicely but there was no room to swing a cat. Not even enough room in the bedroom to get dressed. Even if you only need 2 sleeping rooms, I honestly think you need a 3rd bedroom to put your clothes.

Thanks again...some interesting points...I need something for both dc to enjoy - there is a 5 year age gap so not easy - and hotels and villas are out due to the cost factor....

Flights with easyjet to venice not too bad at the mo and can also go from local airport so thats another big plus for me.

The mobile we want to book has got decking and ac so that shold be ok too.

Hoping the weather will be good at the end of may!!!

Thanks again x

grapefruit - still don't get it - why not just book a holiday to italy - than fly to stay in a caravan.

GrapefruitMoon · 14/08/2009 17:59

Well I suppose that there is usually a lot of difference between a Keycamp-type holiday and a traditional package holiday - I think it's easier to feel independent/do your own thing on the first one. And give your kids a bit of freedom. Being in a complex with little to do but sunbathe by the pool wouldn't appeal to everyone, there's usually a lot more to do within the campsite I think?

I have friends who have flown to a keycamp type holiday - because that's the type of holiday they wanted but the journey would be too long otherwise (eg if you lived in the north of England)

Tortington · 14/08/2009 18:00

okey cokey

jammydodger · 14/08/2009 18:11

Just come back froma keycamp holiday in Argeles near Perpignon in France - nightmare, was really loud muisc playing every night till midnight. This wasn't mentioned on the website at all - we definitely won't be using them again. Shame as the pools were nice and the playground was good too. But there was no way you could sit outside the caravan in the evening at all, you couldn't have a conversation over the racket.
Never again!
The Eurocamp one by lake Garda was nice last year though, would recommend and very quiet!!

twinkle1 · 14/08/2009 18:12

Just got back from key camp's berney rivierie on sunday. went with 5 kids ranging from twin babys to 10 yr old. Was so fantastic we booked to go again next year day after we got home!!!

changenameruk · 14/08/2009 20:50

just got back from keycamp site in italy (camping fabulous) just outside rome- flew ryan air,

mobile home fantastic. big enough with deck and we had air con. It looked brand new and was lovely. shady pitches. fantastic swimming pool made out of moulded plastic and lots of slides. also mini golf, and trampollines in the evening.

down side. not many english there so my ds found it hard to make friends. Kids club was awful. girl running at very little english and spoke in italian so dd couldn't join in.
food in resturant was not good - only the pizzas were worth eating.

as Portofino said le lac de reves in france with Siblu is lovely. we went in 2008 and 2007 and will go back next year - site manager and all staff very friendly.

BadgersArse · 15/08/2009 21:03

went to domaine de la rive in Biscarosse - camping la rive as keycamp call it.
FAb location for tiddlers and primary kid ( not bad for teens)
major plus points are a huge lake on the site you can swim/pedalo/banan boat in that is SO shallow you can sit on the sand and watch them walk out for about2 miles.
really great.
aslo ok ish pool complex ( being put under a roof and revamped for next year)

CHALETs are fab and in quieter bit

bad points - poor bike hire and £££

becaroo · 16/08/2009 10:18

Thanks again for taking the time to post everyone...well, we have booked a week in May next year at Ca'Savio in northern Italy -close to Venice.

We are also thinking of taking advantage of the 40% off 2nd hol deal and booking to go to Austria in August!!!!
