at Chevre's cooking capabilities.

Perhaps I should have clarified:

What is on your Menu de Camping if you only have one tiny little burner from Halford's??

Very nice Chevre ( I love goats cheese me,) This week I will mostly be eating stuff out of tins and packets as I am driving down to South of France with caravan and never bother with the fridge until I'm down there.
My dd says I must get some 'chickeny rice stuff' and packets of pasta+sauce.
It works out ok but I miss a glass of chilled wine.
I do hope the rain stops too!

With a one ring burner i have a steamer with a the base, the steamer bit and then another pan on top of that. I can cook pasta at the bottom, steam veg and warm sauce in the top.

aha, very cunning work, blowbroth.

We do also have one of these. It behaves itself for DH, but I can't get to grips with it myself.

When DH just takes DS1 away, I make them a big vege chickpea curry thing at home and they just heat it up and eat with nan bread. However, on this occasion fussy-drawers DD & DS2 are going too, which rules out the curry option.

blowbroth - can I ask you something? We have recently bought a caravan and I have never camped in France before. Only in UK with a tent. How long does it take you to drive down there?

blowbroth · 29/07/2009 15:27

Hi hercules. We take it quite steady and drive about 6 hours a day. We always stop about 3o'clock at a site with a pool ,swim, wine dinner etc. early bed and off about 9 the next day. It takes us 3/4 days. We are in the midlands so the first day is just down to Calais and then stop for the night. We always use campsites, never in 'aires' on the motorway.
I can recommend it and the driving is fine.
The roads are fairly empty.

Thanks. I think I will plan to do this next year.
