OK DH has agreed. We are going camping. What can I justify buying?

I need a tent

We have sleeping bags (4)& a double mattress

So I need a second double mattress or 2xsingles

I can borrow

a gas ring
folding washing up bowl
frying pan
water carrier (with small tap - apparently I need stool)
2 folding bikes for the children

We just bought 2 little oblong pans which fit inside each other (from Tesco - D is so excited) & I have a cute little BBQ in a bucket

So what else do I need?

& how do I fit it all in the car?

LOL you should let her, she can cover it with tarp and that can be her tent!!!

Katymac · 20/06/2009 22:21

Nah it's a bit small for that & tbh I don't want her sailing in the sea.....in a broad she hots the other side if she goes too far - in North Wales the other side might be America

Friends take a TV for the evenings. We take a book and wine, with top trumps for the boys adn a kite. Far better LOL- we have an emergency phone but TBH we're shite with mobiles anyway, sahre one that is rarely charged and therefore no real difference.

We may have to take an i phone or similar next year as DH ahs own business now and needs internet access; we will ahve to take a stock of his items to post if he sells any but this site has internet access anyhow.

peachy - I love the not having tv bit, it means we have to talk . read books, play games. We often go with friends so one will bring a guitar so we will listen/sing songs, drink beer, be pyromaniacs! So much more to do that sit in front of a tele!

I know pavlov, we're just starting to take the boys walking, and DS2 joineed Cubs last week solooking forward to his input of ideas for non TV absed things when out camping as well (he's off on his first Cub camp in 2 weeks).

DD wants a camp fire - is this likely to be allowed at the site or is it more likely on the beach?

Sites that allow them make it bvious as they are really popular and sell out very early.

Search for specific sites and you will find plenty, but you book October for next year as a rule.

We did get into one this year- was amazing. Will recommend by CAT if you want bt am being a mean bitch as too few pitches and too nice to not be able to go

Oh maybe I shouldn't have posted the link to my site.....I don't want lots of horrid people there

I am guessing I will be OK on a public beach?

Hmm, yes please do CAT me......I won't abuse it (chances are it will be too far away for me)

I got some great 4l ice cream tubs from the ice cream van - I reckon they will be useful

If you are not allowed an actual fire pit, many places will allow a small fire if it is contained. You can buy a fire bucket or a fire box. My friend has the most amazing fire box, although it cost £80, it has poles to hand a kettle or pans from, racks to cook meat on, a spit to cook meat on, all detachable so you can also just have a roaring fire without risk of setting fire to everything else! It has detachable legs so you can have it on the ground or a bit higher up (which us oldies now like as no smoke in the face as we sit in our chairs!!).

We have a BBQ bucket which we can have a fire in - we have at home

Thanks for the site - it looks lovely so does your friends firebox

DD & DH are getting so excited - I hope I can keep up with them. EuroDisney was like this - they loved it & I hated it
