Any recommendations on things to do in the area, good beaches, restaurants, etc?

There is a lovely zoo in La Palmyre (well, i think it's still there...).

The main seafront in Royan has a candy shop which makes "niniches", yummmm!

That's all I can think of, I haven't been there for years (hope info is still valid!).

Grattage · 30/05/2009 18:02

oh yes the zoo was nice.

Grattage · 30/05/2009 18:02

Great, thanks!

I hope the weather's not iffy - we have had 7 great summers camping in France so far....

how old are yor DC?

there is/was a brill park on the main road near Brem-sur-Mer. it was a non-mechanical fairground, so your kids would need to be 5+

bigTillyMint · 30/05/2009 18:25

Ooh Gill, that sounds fab. There is one which sounds like that near Chester - the Crokky Trail, and they LOVE it!

i have found the website ...

www.parcdesdunes.com/photos_du_parc_parc_des_dunes_attractions_famille_vancances_loisirs_brem_sur_me rvendee85.php

how old is crokky trail suitable for?

bigTillyMint · 30/05/2009 19:26

Well, we've been doing it since DS was 5 or so. DH still loves it and he's 40 now!

There's also a similar thing at Manley Mere (also in that area) - there are rides made from old farm equipment and rope bridges and swings over rivers and other bits to test your physical abilities on, etc - a perfect day out!

As long as you wear your oldest clothes and have a clean set to change into after

Hi,

sorry to hijack, but thought better to add to this thread than start another!

We're looking for a not-too-commercialised campsite where we can pitch our own tent on the coast (or with a nice swimming pool) near Royan/Bordeaux.

Preferably with a nice restaurant / bar nearby!

Would love to hear any suggestions!
