Back early after noisy overcrowded campsite

hmpffff. Just a quick moan. We booked onto what we thought was supposed to be a quiet secluded campsite. Joined the camping and caravan club specifically to have quieter nights.

Ended up having a huge party (16 people?) squooshed against us with little kids running in and out around our tent, around our bbq, constantly tripping up over our guy ropes and queueing up to kick their ball against our tent Group exceptionally noisy til after midnight then another groups kids were playing outside at 5:30am.

Campsite was overcrowded and 2 loos (with washing facilities integral so that if someone had a shower the loo was tied up forever) 20 minute wait for first wee of morning made me a very grumpy lady.

I know I am getting old and bah humbugy but some people do like sleep at night and to get away from it all. Just call me Victor Meldrew.

The tent that Kbear posted a link to is really light and small

Packed size 34 x 75cm.

Weight 26.64kg.

Riven posted an excellent post on another thread on how she packs for camping on a train. Perhaps she will post it again

Misdee, if DLA refuse the DLA make sure you appeal, they seem to refuse as the norm and then see how many appeal.

I must say I have been reading the camping threads over the last couple of weeks as DH wants to start doing it and you really are making me want to start as well. Have to say though I do like my home comforts like nice toiletsand showers and being warm. But have picked up some great ideas from you all.

if dh doesnt get dla again then its fine. he had his heart transplant in august 07, and tbh he is just filling them in, basically to see if they say no. we both know he is almost normal in terms of his health and fitness, so am not worried by no car. we live in a pretty accessable town, loads of transport links, close to town centre etc, it just longer journies may cuase problems.

Goodness was it really nearly 2 years ago? Doesn't seem that long ago. Good to know that he is feeling well and fit.

Mybe have a look at hireing a car when you need it for long journeys.

Pavlov, we've had a couple of very good experiences this last year camping wild with the dds on Dartmoor. Not in your places, we've been near Wichety Cross and near Okehampton. Blissful. And surprisingly easy with children.
