Campsites in the Netherlands and Germany?

We?re planning a camping trip in the summer to Holland and Germany. We don?t know either country very well and haven?t planned our route yet, so are totally open to suggestions. We?ll be travelling with our baby who will be 10 months old and so possibly moving around by then, so we?re hoping to find quiet, family friendly campsites with safe and reasonably secluded pitches. Can anyone recommend any good ones?

Sorry - didn't want it to go unanswered so hope this bump helps!! have only been to Duinrell which would be a tad too manic for your baby I would think p- but fab in a few years time!

n idea , but Dh loves the idea of the freesian(?) islands along the dutch/german coast. Big, big beaches and shiffting sands bit like north norfolk i think?

We are off to Holland at the end of the week. We are going to Duinrell this time with DD1 (2.7 YO) and DD2 (4 mo).

We have been to Beekse bergen too when DD1 was about 10 mo. She had a lovely time - and the site was lovely for her and us.

We went with Eurocamp - might not be quite what you are after but they are great prices for just getting away.

Not sure about Germany but Eurocamp are there too.

Zeeland is a nice place for camping, lots of nice beaches. I think Zanz1bar means the 'Wadden eilanden', top of Holland, great too.

Near the 'Drie landen Punt' also very nice (Vaals, Maastricht)

Hiya,

We did a trip via Belgium and up through Northern Germany to Denmark a couple of years ago and found that most campsites had space if you just turned up, especially in Germany (it was the school summer hols too). Most German sites seemed to be v big and plush. We had a good night or two at Bremen, Oldenburg had a lovely campsite with a pool (and you got a free drink voucher for the bar when you checked in!) and Lubeck up on the north coast had a nice little municipal campsite too.

I can't recommend any specifics in Holland but I can for Belgium - Camping Memling in Bruge is fab and walking distance from the city centre and there's another one just inside the French border which is handy for a stopover if you are arriving at Calais or Dunkerque late/or leaving early! Its called Camping Le Chaumiere in a village called Buyscherre.

Both of those specific sites can be found on here We haven't had a bad experience with any campsite we've visited as a result of the reviews here... Mostly uk but they have an overseas section too.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the info. I like the idea of visiting Bruges so will check that site out. Will also check out your link runningmonkey. Also, it's useful to know that we might be able to turn up to some of the sites in Germany. We'd quite like to have a bit of flexibility rather than having to book every single night in advance.

We're going to do it ourselves rather than Eurocamp as Dp loves putting the tent up etc, but useful to know, as they're normally only on quality sites, I've heard.

Glad it helped.

One more thing - if you're going up the NW coast of Germany, avoid a place called Busum - it is marked on most maps as a beach resort but actually it is a tarmac strip running into the sea... I was v disappointed after following the signs to 'the beach' with my bathers on to find tarmac and a grey grey north sea full of German pensioners On the upside the campsite there was v plush - swipe card access to showers which were better than most hotels I've stayed in... or maybe that says something about the hotels I have visited
