Campsites in The Gower

I've not camped in The Gower for years now so am hoping you can all advise me.

We don't want much - just a pretty flat site with good, clean toilets and showers and a decent washing up area.

Any tips please?

we stayed last year at three cliffs bay. its a very beautiful site - very near the beach (but a climb down to it) and has good facilities, decent showers, shop etc. however it is on quite a slope, and was fairly busy.

that said, we had a really nice time, and by the looks of it all the kids there had an absolute blast!

That is my absolute fave sight! With a big hill down to the beach, beautiful views of Three Cliffs and Pennard Castle.

Beynon's campsite, Nicholaston Farm, Penmaen, Gower.

There are others with entertainment, less of a hike to the beach etc. but this is so beautiful it is worth the lack of amentities. It has toilet and shower blocks and a shop. The Gower Inn is only a short drive away, as is Oxwich Bay.

We absolutely, most definitely don't want a site with entertainment!

Three cliffs is great but can be very very windy at times. If you go don't camp near to the cliif edge. I speak from experience! The site at Port Eynon is also good and right next to the beach.

Of the campsites on Gower Three Cliffs and Nicholaston Farm are the most family friendly of the larger sites.

If you are after the surf and the apres-surf then the noise and over indulgence of Hillend Llangennith is for you.

For a combination of activities try the small site overlooking the sea at Clyne Farm Centre - for 20 years they've offered camping in a remote woodland site as well as in small fields closer to the main farm buildings.

These are now all self catering cottages so there is usually a good mix of families drawn by the on site activities which include horseriding (1/4 hour led walks for 4 year olds to adults) and Challenge Valley - the muddiest assault course in the world!! (Good showers to match!)

Three miles from Swansea and Mumbles and just up the road from a children's play area at Blackpill www.clynefarm.com

Oxwich Bay Campsite. It is a basic site but it does have a pool, no entertainment/bar/shop.

Pitton Cross is gorgeous and very uncommercial indeed. It's walking distance from Mewslade beach which is only accessible by foot so it's really empty, even at the height of summer.

thanks spicemonster, yes pitton cross was the one we stayed at.lovely.
