dogs and camping

We went camping last year several times with 1 dog, he slept in his crate in the porch area at night. I now have 2 dogs, they both have crates which they are used too, but I wonder if they'll be warm enough. I thought they might be better off in the back of the car, where they have more space and can snuggle up together, also less drafts. What do other people do? Mine are fine in the car, I work part time as a countryside ranger and they come to work with me, so are used to spending a couple of hours in the car while I'm in meetings or doing e-mails etc. And before anyone shoots me down in flames, no not when its hot, and they always have exercise first, have water, beds, chew toys, in a private car park and they don't whine at all. Does anyone else put their dogs in the car overnight or always in the tent?

if it is cold ours go in one crate together - it is a big crate!

oh and we cover the crate with a blanket to keep the warmth in too!

Thanks for the tips, I always have a blanket over their crates anyway, but I don't usually cover the front too, I could try that, and see if they get on ok together in a crate, I know our puppy would enjoy it more than our older dog, although they do cuddle up quite often.

one of ours did grumble a bit for a couple of mins but once they were settled they slept all night!

Ours sleeps on the bottom of our blowup bed because our crate is too big for the tent but two dogs in the car or one crate sounds like a good idea. They'll have warmth and company that way.
