Challenge - cheapest and (for a laugh) most expensive pitches you can find for the school summer hols?

I'll kick off with an expensive one I've found - Haven, at their Cornwall site (Peranporth? can't remember!) £111 per pitch per night.

{Thud} (that's the sound of the gauntlet being thrown down

Tal Y Bont Resevoir in Brecon, £2 a night last summer. Very basic- a concrete block with 2 loos and a sink in the ladies (didn't check out the gents). Not technically a campsite but we loved it!

Crunchie · 15/02/2009 11:08

barking - how did you find that, what are the rules??

Pitch only? 2 adults. 2 kids? dates??

BarkingHarriet · 15/02/2009 14:30

Ok, so the rules - got to be in August, say 2 adults 2 kids. Must be a proper pitch, not just a field at the side of a road.

So the challenge is set - can you beat £2 or £111?

That's imposible!

Barking and Rach have won already!

Rachmumoftwo · 15/02/2009 21:43

Now I don't know if mine would be described as a proper pitch as it is a little basic to say the least- no hook up, or shop, or anything really. We loved it!

But a man does come and collect your money so maybe it does count.

Caravan club has lots of sites at £5 a night, as indeed does the caravan and camping club.

BarkingHarriet · 17/02/2009 19:21

But isn't that £5 per pitch, plus a price per person, plus electricity etc etc etc?

No

£5 all in, I have just posted on the caravan thread re; their certificated locations/ certificated sites. There are thousands throughout the country, often on farms or in the gardens of very large houses. They accept a maximum of 5 vans/tents and you have to be a mamber of one of the big clubs to get info about them, although a few do advetise on websites like "5van".

The ones with electric hook up are usually around a tenner, but £70 for a week in high season? unbelievable, isn't it!

that's very good then.

We stayed at a site in Caister nr Great Yarmouth that was £13 per night inc hook up in August - site was nice enough but wouldn't bother with Caister again.

certificated sites are supposedly good

We've found a site in Pembrokeshire, we got the last pitch for holidays (but they might have soem in June etc if anyone wants a link), only 10 pitches, excellent reviews, campfires not only allowed but provided for: that's £192 for 6 of us which i think is great value if not the cheapest.

Glitterknickaz · 03/03/2009 16:47

Ok, so a week on Dartmoor - 2 adults, 2 kids, 1 baby and a dog with hook up £42 per night.
Then a week in Dorset, the same set up £40 a night.

This holiday is going to cost nearly £600 before we've even started!

neenztwinz · 04/03/2009 14:21

£111 a night? And I thought £32 a night at Park Resorts in Abergele for May half-term was a lot!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 04/03/2009 14:24

Millimat · 27/03/2009 21:43
