Can I camp nearish to Windsor and get away from the Heathrow noise?

We're thinking of doing England for our summer hols this year Windsor Castle, Hampton Court, Legoland, Kew Gardens, etc.

But lots of the campsite reviews on UK Camping mention noise from Heathrow being an issue. Or the M4!

How far from Heathrow do we need to go to avoid the noise? I don't mind the odd plane but don't want it to bother our holiday.

Is that at all possible in that area? Or am I looking for something which doesn't exist.

Oooh, very useful information there about Chessington, I would never have thought about going there. Thanks!

We stayed in Highclere Farm Country Touring Park just outside Beaconsfield and never noticed any aircraft noise. It was small and very pleasant. We caught the train from the station 3 mins away and went into London for the day - only took about 20 minutes on a direct line. the children loved it. Also went to legoland with DD (4) and DS (1) and hated it. Ended up leaving early. It was far too crowded and we queued for over an hour for some rides that lasted 45 seconds and the queuing time post said 30 mins. Poor ds only went on 2 rides. I thought it was aimed at younger children but seriously disappointed. We did go to a model village nearby that was very cheap to get in and had a fantastic time!
However, would go back to that site as a base for Chessington and London again.

We stayed in Hurley last october and had a fab time, lovely site with lovely river walks.
Found a nice cafe by the lock, went to the local pub for a haloween night and mixed with the locals (tad posh and expensive for us country bumpkins).
planes werent too bad.We enjoyed watching them.
the only downfall was my ds wanted a play area and there was only a football field which is no good to a 6yo on his own with no ball
it snowed while we were there and legoland wasn't too far.
the site also has wi-fi so you can keep posting on mums net
hope this helps!

millimat what was the playarea like at
highclere ds 7 so wants a good playarea

The play area was all wooden. No swings but a slide. It was a bit like an assault course type thing where they could go round, with a bit to balance on, types on chainns to go though, a scramble net etc.
It was only quite small but the children loved it. As DD was 4 she could only manage some of it and poor DS could only go on the slide. I would think 7yo would lovwe it.
Think there are photos opf it on their website.
