God, yes, saggyhairarse, first ever hol with DS1 we went to Perran Sands. and stayed in one of their chalets. The carpet was infested wtih fleas which jumped on and off 6 month old as he was lying on his changing mat . DH's ankles were bitten to shreds. I can't tell you how disgusting it was. The duvets smelt as if they were about 20 years old and had never been washed.

Also swimming pool was very overcrowded (VERY), general outside areas v v tatty.

REally, really grim and not sure I could ever face a holiday park EVER again. We came home early from that holiday, and have never had to do that before.

(although have heard good things about the Devon Cliffs site)

I have heard that the toilet/shower facilities at Havens haggerston Castle site are really bad.
I can recommend a lovely site at Silloth near Lakes. It is called Stanwix Park. The pitches are gravel so better for the tent. The facilities were all immaculate and there is a lovely swimming pool that certainly does not get as busy as the Haven pools. The evening entertainment was also better than Haven-for kids and adults.

Haven caister is lovely. Our van was fantastic and literally 50 yards from the beach. The swimming pool was really bright and clean and had flumes. Evening entertainment not to everyone's taste but the kids loved it.

We went to Haggerston Castle and hated it. The caravan was FREEZING (in July), the cafe/swimming pool/restaurant/playarea was only reachable through the tacky Amusement Arcade and the entertainment for the DC seemed to comprise of selling as much cheap tat as possible.

We did not go to any of the entertainment, my parents took the DC one afternoon. It is not something that we look for in a holiday, tbh.

Most of the activities cost extra and are very expensive.

The only good thing about it was the area, we spent most of the time off site.

We loved Devon Cliffs last year - we went with the Sun last year and we thought it was going to be chavsville - yeah, there were your fair share of chavs, but a lot less than i thought - just ordinary people. A lot of the caravans are privately owned and i found there to be a really nice mix of people. Yes is it huge, and to be totally honest, the entertainment that they provided was a bit naff - the shows for the kids were a bit yawnsville, but DD (3.5) loved the little disco bit - the atmosphere was good though, so we are going again for that reason. The swimming pool is lovely, although it was a bit cold in september when we went. The daytime entertainment was a bit pants - took DD once but we gave up after half an hour as she was bored.

Food onsite was shit and expensive - but only about five minutes drive from exmouth with some good value places to eat and a huge tesco. I would advise taking essentials like bread, any spices you might use etc with you - cuts on the cost.

we are going in june this year (tommy might see you there!!!). We got a half price upgrade this year so will have a higher standard caravan this time around. We had a standard last year as we had our dog - it was more than we expected tbh, spacious and clean. It was comfy but a tad on the cold side, we left the fire on all night and left the doors to bedrooms open, that was enough - it was a warm september. I would recommend taking an extra duvet with you, or some sheets if you feel the cold.

We must have liked it, cos we are going back - but if you are going solely for the entertainment - unless you like it in your face you might be disappointed, if you intend to make your own fun most times then its perfect. We plan on probably not going into the complex every night and even the nights we go, my prediction is that we will leave by about 8.30 when the childrens entertainment finishes. The caberet that we saw was laughable but fun because of htat.

I say, you dont know til you try - ive heard its variable, but Devon cliffs got us going back and thats the first time we have stayed in the same place two years running so it must have something (AND im an intolerable snob )
