Royal Vegas 8ZG vs Vango Ukon 800 (or Khyam Ontario) ... who would like to make a decision for me?

So, we want to spend under £200 & these two (as well as the Khyam Ontario) keep cropping up - any thoughts/recommendations/random musings?

We are virgin campers, so ease & simplicity a big bonus...

TIA

So you have decided that a tunnel tent is for you? Good idea! they are soo much easier to pitch, all of the ones you are looking at have a sig (big tick), good HH (another tick) I'd go for the one that is the biggest tbh, and see if you can add a porch at a later date if you decide that camping is for you - they give so much more space and somewhere to put all of the junk.

Can you go somewhere to have a look at any of them?

I'll be back later as I should be marking essays at the mo

Thanks knickers

And thanks for the reassurance we're not totally up the wrong tree without a paddle lucycat

We've managed to look at the vango, but as most places haven't got much out yet (& given that we're firmly looking at saving some cash by buying last years stock, we haven't been able to find anywhere where we can see the others... The royal has a zip out ground sheet,& you can guy out the door to make an awning thing both if which I love the idea of, but weighs nearly twice as much, which feels less manageable, esp if one of us ends up trying to pitch alone...

Our tent ha a zip out groundsheet and the biggest adavtage is that the actual tent is much more manageable (and if you look at our tent it needs all the mangeability you can get ) - it also means that you can wash/wipe the groundsheet when you get home and your tent doesn't get muddy. We put our groundsheet in a big bag (think it was from IKEA) and so it can be packed separately.

Lucycat can i just ask how you get on with your Quechua pop ups? we are planning on camping in France this summer and touring around a bit more than usual so need a tent thats easy to put up and take down. I've not seen these in the flesh but having looked at them on the net i really fancy them.

They are fantastic! We have a 3 man which really fits two airbeds in and a newish 3 man with a porch area so you don't get wet getting out, although we have also used a tarp inbetween them at times, which gives you some 'living space' too. For overnight stops they are perfect, we'll be using them again in france this year.

If you can track down Martianbishop she has some of the Full Base ones and with those you get some headroom too.

They do of course need a firm hand when it come to striking camp - i recommmend sneaking up on them and using some ninja moves
