Why why why was my flock blow up mattress soaking wet the following morning

Now don't be rude! Seriously I've never encountered this problem before but we got a new blow up flock air bed and the following morning after a cold night but warm day it was soaking and starting soak through into the sleeping bag! Any ideas as to why?

did you have something underneath the air bed ( a blanket?)

If you blew it up yourselves then the moisture droplets in your breath could have condensed and soaked through the cover maybe.

But i didn't have any problems with my previous air bed! This is the first time we've had a "flock" one. Could that be the reason?

We found this with ours too. I've put it down to condensation and just made sure it gets well aired during the day. That being said, the little bugger also deflates overnight. I think we need a new one.

The reason your one deflates overnight is that you probably inflated it when the daytime temp is slightly warmer than the cold night air.....
When air gets colder, it condenses and the air in the airbed is reduced. You will find that there is a lot less puff in your bed in the mornng than night time. Best time to re-inflate is just before you go to bed...

We used to get this with our flock air bed. I looked it up on ukcampsite and it is condensation, something to do with the warmth of your body against the cold air in the bed.

If you put a blanket underneath and on top of the air bed it should help a bit. I then used to just pull all the sleeping bags off in the morning to let them dry out.

I did get fed up with sleeping on a half inflated bed for half a night so we now use self infating mattresses.

So, is it just flock ones that are prone to this deflating and getting damp? I can't say I ever noticed it with other ones.

And how do self inlating ones work? Do they keep themselves inflated over night (and HOW? Do they come with a little man who blows into them for you?).
