Hello I have just upgraded to an Outwell Montana 6, it arrived today and is lovely just a shame it doesn't come in blue.
I have never had a tent with a sewn in groundsheet before and normally just peel back a corner and cook on the grass.
I have this www.gooutdoors.co.uk/3138522036355
What shall I put it on?

Have you bought the canopy for the monty? I would cook under that with the cooker on a table or stand.

fwiw I wouldn't cook in a tent with a SIG, but lots of people do.

I haven't the canopy and I did plan on cooking in the side porch as it has removable groundsheet but its way too small.
The camping table we have is so awful top is bowed and I like being as low to the floor as possible when cooking.
I was thinking of maybe getting a fire blanket to put cooker on. I'm happy to do main cooking outside of tent but cooker needs to be used inside for late night cup of tea/hot chocolate/cup a soup.

What about something like this?

Slubber that would be perfect if it was just a little longer and wider, think it will be hard to find one as short but with a larger top.

I am too scaredy to cook inside my monty
But we use this outside
this
The shelves underneath aren't great for anything heavy though (we replaced them with aluminium)
We have the same stove btw so it does fit

isn't it a bit dangerous to cook in your tent? You could get a gazebo and cook under that, they sell them at Argos pretty cheap

I'm going to have a look in the morning at the local very expensive caravaning shop to see if they have anything that I can then buy cheaper online .
Thanks for all your ideas.

PLEASE dont cook in your tent....if you have a sig fumes from your cooker will build up and you could set it on fire!
you can cook in the side porch of the monty 6 or outside if it's nice. get a couple of windbreaks and use them as a kitchen area.
Hope you get something sorted soon..
Emma

Yes - we made the mistake of putting the cooker on the grass but then moving it onto a corner of the groundsheet near the door before it had cooled properly we won't do that again. We have a stand now like this one

PLEASE don't ever cook inside a tent - it is so incredibly dangerous. We were camping next to a tent that caught fire once - the guy inside got out with burns to his hands but he was really really lucky. The tent went up like a torch. I don't want to scare you - but PLEASE don't do it.
