What are the best things to cook/eat when away camping? I need a plan.

Going away for three nights this weekend and a festival later in the summer.

Usually spend an arm and a leg of felafel at the festival - but what is realistic to take/cook.

pasta and a tuna and tomato sauce

baked beans and bread or toast if you have one of those fancy grill things

I have succesfully made stir-fried chicken and veg with rice on a number of camping excursions too. Take frozen already cut up chicken in a cold box with ice packs, and have it either the first or second night.

I was camping with my 2 DC on Friday night. For dinner, I cooked wholewheat pasta and they had baked beans with it and half of one of those smoked sausages (Mattesons). Then for brekkie, I did scrambled egg, tinned spaghetti (picked up the wrong tin - thought it was tinned tomatoes) with the rest of the sausage, plus bread rolls. I took roasted veg (already done) plus chickpea curry (tin of chick peas, onion, tomato, garlic and a generous shake of curry powder) which just needed a quick reheat. Only, by the time I cooked the boys their dinner, I couldn't be bothered to heat it up so I had it cold. Very nice too!

Have fun!

The kids have CocoPops for brekkie (the only time they are allowed them).

For lunch we will just have filled rolls and fruit and stuff or maybe scrambled eggs on toasted muffins.

We tend to have a BBQ in the evenings, with whatever meat we are having and salad/new potatoes. Or a one pot meal like chilli/pasta or we'll eat out.

BBQ's are fab but also look into dishes that only need 1-2 sauspans.
Spag Bol, Chilli & rice, Curry & rice, pasta & sauce etc.
For breakfast eggy bread is great.
Have fun1

Meals we do on a twin burner in our camper van:

Breakfast:
Omelette
Sausage sandwiches
Full English
Boiled Eggs
Toast

Lunch:
Sandwiches
Salad
Picnic stuff

Evening:
Pasta
Risotto
Veg soup/stew
Stir fry
Curry
Sausage and mash

Oooh and don't forget to take a really good hot chocolate!

our favourite meal is just loads of seafood stir fried and served with salads and bred

bacon sarnies, sausages (of the posher variety), and croissants generally make up breakfasts; dinners are fresh fish, lamb kebabs, steaks (usually in a bagueete).

lyunch is whatever we grab out and about- pasties, sarnies etc.

fave first nigt dinner is either fish and chips (if we're doing just a weekend and putting tent up late), or I marinade tuna in coconut and ime, then freeze so its frsh.

We are going to Lattitude in a few weeks - first festival with the girls (2 and 4) erk! Am worried about carrying the camping stuff from teh car as it is (they do provide wheelbarrows) so wondering whether to bother with the burner..

I may get shot down by some posh foodies but pasta 'n' sauce are a good quick one. They are veggie and free on Slimming World so always appear on our camping menu!

Again my kids love beans, sausage egg etc. tinned spaghetti.

TBH we tend to mix eating out with a few camp meals so not bothered about cordon bleu, just quick and easy and something that the kids will eat (the 4 yr old is a real fuss pot).
