Bestival / Pink Moon

Hello! We’re going to Bestival for the first time, LO will be 18 months. Equal parts excited and nervous!

we’ve got the cheapest tents in the pink moon section, think it’s called a standard bell tent. Has anyone used one of these before and could tell me what is the best sleeping set up? Originally I thought we’d get a blow up mattress but I’m assuming it has a pole right in the middle, so may need to be two smaller mattresses? Thanks!

We’ve had bell tents (although the glamping version) at Camp Bestival before. Ours have usually had a double bed in the middle (kind of from the back up to the middle post), then one single on either side. There’s then a space in front of the beds for storage and sitting.

Ahh I think those are fancier than these ones, the standard bell tents don’t list that they include a bed so pretty sure it’s literally just the tent!

Sorry yes, they are the posher ones but they’re all the same size so you can replicate the lay out.

Yes! We had exactly this last year. We have single camp beds that we put on 3 sides round the pole which worked brilliantly. Single mattresses would work fine but you’d need to check measurements if you have double mattresses. But they were pretty roomy.

That’s really useful, thank you! I’m gonna be cosleeping with my 18 month old (who doesn’t normally co sleep but just don’t think fitting a travel cot is realistic too haha) so think maybe 2 singles is best unless I can find a twin size blow up haha

If you don’t usually co-sleep how about trying her in one of those inflatable toddler beds instead of a travel cot?

If ot doesn’t work out you can always put it away again and then co-sleep?

We don’t usually but during sickness we often do and we do the odd nice afternoon nap together. I think he’ll sleep better in the weirdness of a tent for the first time cuddled up to me!

I have no idea about the specifics of these tents, but having camped a lot with babies and children, please don’t try to cosleep on a single blow up mattress! Either take two/three thick roll mats (which will be hard to sleep on, particularly on your hips) or a double airbed.

Single airbeds are really small. Especially if you’re trying to keep a young child from rolling off the other side.
