Teen group camping

Hoping some camping aficionados can help with this one. Would it be possible for a group of 16 year old friends to camp together for a couple of nights post-GCSEs and if so, does anyone know of any budget campsites on the coast (reachable from SE England) that could be reached by public transport? Thank you!

It is really hard to find this.
Some YHA hostels will allow unaccompanied 16 year olds - you have to enquire individually, I think. And some with campsites might allow U 18s - none say so though.

I have never coma across a regular campsite that allows unaccompanied U 18s.

We used to go to 'camp where you like' sites and the teens used to make their own encampment a long way from the accompanying adults.

It seems mad if the reason is H&S when Reading and Leeds festivals allow 16 year olds to camp... but then they all disturb each other with their noise and behaviour.

You could search Pitch Up and use the DoE groups filter and see if they will accept young people not doing DoE.

In my experience it is really hard to find a campsite prepared to take teenage groups without a responsible adult. They sadly know that the majority of groups like that will be loud, drunk and shagging all night...

Even as DofE leader and other camping groups of teens I have very few campsites who will take us these days.

:-(

Would the group accept a chaperone, on the agreement the chaperon camps away from them and only intervenes if needed...?

A friend's teen sons managed to camp in Woolacombe this summer post GCSE. Although I am not sure they said on booking they were under 18 and didn't read the conditions... That said they ended up going twice, and didn't get turned away. They weren't getting pissed though and a parent stayed nearby (not on site though). Which was handy as one of them got into difficulty in the beach and the coastguard would not let them go until an adult presented themselves.
There is a campsite in Cheddar, Petruth, which accepts teens but parents have to pay a behaviour bond and no alcohol or drugs allowed the policy is here https://www.petruthpaddocks.co.uk/u18-group-enquiry-dev/#/

Which probably affirms most campsites concerns about under 18's....

They could do it at a festival! Reading/Leeds is popular with post-GCSE young people (as it is the weekend after results).
Might not be what you are looking for though.

Boardmasters is popular in the SW with this age group…
