Took dd camping for the first time a few weeks ago age 13weeks. Like you we did not know what to dress her in at night and tried a grow bag to start with. Had a terrifying moment in the night when I felt her and she was very cold and would not wake up to feed so after that we put her in a sleeping bag and a little hat. Sleeping bag went up to just below her armpits and I used clothes pegs to ensure that it did not cover her face. I also decided to set my alarm to wake her to feed. Mad I know but it gave me a reassurance to check her and also I was happier that she had regular top ups of warm milk throughout the night.

There are plenty of sleeping bags on ebay and I think the Vango one seems the best.

Hope that helps, let us know how you get on.

Just an idear, turn an adult sleeping bag inside out, zip it halfway and then bring it back on it's self, If you get my drift?? did that with my twins, when we stayed with friends.

My husband is keen on us going to Greenbelt, which is a Christian arts festival in Cheltenham at the end of August. Our baby will be 3 months old. I am v worried about him either being too cold, or us making him too hot in compensation, if you see what I mean! This business of the baby being too cold to wake up etc would really worry me and I'm not sure I'd be able to sleep/ enjoy myself...any further advice from seasoned campers?

Had conversation again with husband about this, tonight. He's very keen to camp with the baby! Would still appreciate advice on under/overheating. Thanks!

I have used a warm padded cosytoes/footmuff before and the baby looked very snug and warm.
