Dh and I have just decided that we won't go abroad this year, but stay in the UK and camp. Our tent that we bought a few years ago was very much a cheep and chearful one to see if we liked camping - oh yes we do, so time for an upgrade.

We have three dc's and our existing tent is v big, with three sleeping pods. Nothing wrong with it really, but it doesn't have a sewn in groundsheet or any handy storage stuff. It's also dome shaped and we've found that if it's rainy we can't see out and feel a bit cut off.

So, with all that in mind have any of you got recomendations for a large tent? extra special things we should look out for?

As we're not going abroad we're prepared to spend some proper money on the tent - well I am, haven't mentioned that bit to dh yet .

have a shufti at the outwell range. they are V good and have SIGs or bathtub ground sheets.

Personally I like a tunnel tent as they tend to be easier to put up, and have good visibility.

Look at the montana range if you are prepared to spend a bit

oh np you need a Wolf Lake 7 or nORFOLK lAKE oops sorry about the caps bit drunk - been to BBQ AND dh is watching footy now......

Aha - too late Lucycat, but spot on, I think we've settled on a Wolf Lake 7.

It is mahooosive, but just what we need and I've found it better priced online then it was in the shop. Our only concern is that it's canvas and dh is worried about having to dry it out if it's raining when we pack it up.

Nah it's polycotton, not canvas and it dries qucker than our nylon one!

It is heavy though and the bags will be HUGE- be warned.

We packed up in the rain last summer and it only took an afyernoon in our garden to dry when we got home - we have a Lakey too, she's on my profile

Ah I would love one of those Outwell Lakes but they are way too expensive for us.

yeh they are, but we'd saved madly and this is all our holidays for the next 10 years or so - we also got ours for much less than the list price.

We are lucky to own her
