Will it be cold at night?

Hi

I have been having a really good look through the posts on here and I have a question that I wondered if someone could help me answer?

We are hoping to go to The Vendee next Tuesday, we will be staying in a tent. I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old and am wondering whether I should be expecting it to be cold at night.

We camped every year as kids but it was peak season and usually further south...

If it will be cold, any tips would be great as to what to take?

Thankyou

Hello, hope you have a great trip. Let's hope you have some good weather.

I always expect it to be chilly at night when we are camping, even in the summer. That way we have the option to take things off if it's hot...dh is never cold anyway. Children have pyjamas and a fleece if it's cold at bedtime with a sleeping bag to sleep in. Does your little one have a sleeping bag that he/she wears? If not France is the best place to buy one. My dd wears socks if she's cold but the boys re more hardy! My children have never actually complained about the cold, it's just me who feels it...but then dh does believe in out of season camping. Now I take my fleecy hot water bottle.

My children all have fleece blankets which they use to snuggle up with on car journeys and have in bed at the campsite but they can throw off if they are warm enough.

The same with me, Ifeel the cold but dp or dd never complains!
I find that if i start to get chilly durning the evening, then I cantseem to get warm again.

Things that help are sleeping bags that are cotton rather than the polyester type ones. Also, if we all sleep in the same room and we favour fleece blankets as 'extras' to snuggle up in.
One thing that has helped me is a thermarest bed rather than an inflatable mattress, they dont seem to get chilly!
